STOP RESPONDING TO SPAM THREADS

Should we have a spam thread notification system so that if someone spots one they can email you or something so you can delete it?

As you can't possibly read every single thread John so are likely to miss them.

Nope. But the buggers've been cropping up with alarming regularity over the last few days (either that or it happens all the time and I just happen not to have noticed before).

its already too late, the only way to stop them is surely to suspend all guest posting.

That's what I thought yesterday. But the last few have been started by robots which have actually managed to register as users, so that wouldn't necessarily work, would it?

...because I suspended guest postings. If it doesn't calm down soon I'll just put new users on authroised sign-ups.

What about that dealio with typing a distorted string of text? Wouldn't that be better than having to authorise signups?

Edit: Newest member - "FordDealershipsTolstoy", eh? What's kicked all this off? Some advancement in spambot technology?

It would be easier to ignore them if they didn't have the potential to be so damn funny. Pet Food? Come on!

Dude, I know who TOLSTOY IS!!* But why would the Ford dealership be called Tolstoy?

*I just feel like I cannot emphasize this enough.

 -We're messing with you Coralys.

You need to get used to our eclectic and eccentric styles of humour. Otherwise you'll end up like Apocsol, gibbering away in bad grammar about topics that make no sense.

He was perfectly fine when he joined until we started messing with him and then he snapped.

The odds are that it was spam for a Ford Dealership in Tolstoy, South Dakota. The trick is I can't figure out why we got spammed with that one. The pet food one made sense with all the talk of bunnies and pets on our threads, and the porn one is pretty obvious. There is so little talk about cars around here that I get light headed from being exhaust deprived, and the last few times the topic even remotely came up, Fords weren't even mentioned.

I like Ford Mustangs, specifically the fastbacks and especially the Shelby Cobra.

Yeah, I moderate a board on which "Cheap Cigarettes.com" posted a fuckload of posts. What a pain in the ass!
