Uhm, guys...

http://www.falconsquadron.sevenpennynightm...y/1985/1985.htm

And 1986 and a bit of '87.

I don't know when 1986 and after were posted, I just spotted it tonight, but anyway, there's nothing between them and 1980.  There's quite a bit of the story missing, and something rather unsettling, and mysterious due to the missing years, appears to have happened to Johnny Red's adopted unit, the Falcons, in the meantime.

Thanks Josh!

I might have some of the missing years myself. I'll have to check.

Love the Ruskie trade dress but that doesn't actually look anything like Johnny in the corner there!

Thanks for the heads up on this.

No probs. I envy you UK residents for getting free postage from Amazon.

If you click on Amazon's link to other books by Tom Tully, a nifty collection of 1960s classics pops up: Albion Origins, with Kelly's Eye, Janus Stark, and two others drawn by Eric Bradbury. Tempting. The Johnny Red collection is a no-brainer, though.

The Albion originals is excellent. Although it highlights the elephant sized flaws in Albion.

It does look a good collection. It's a pity they've only done one Steel Claw collection, though. Wasn't that strip going for the best part of twenty years?

3 issues in and I am loving this story so far. Sure do love Garf's war stories.

Finished it, Garth nailed the Johnny Red feel and the art was great EXCEPT for the actual depiction of Johnny, who oft-times was made to look like a weird jawed mutant!  Burns does a great plane though and that's the important thing, really.

Would like some more from the same creative team but thought the framing sequence did a good job of saying goodbye to the character so maybe just a new War Story over at Avatar ?

^ have some holes in that run so I can't complete the tale. Hopefully it's traded  soon.

Hope Garf gets a new artist for future war stories. Jason was right. That one dude was kind of sucky

Burns probably had a pout on because he didn't get to draw any tits for the whole serial.

Well I owe someone an apology - I was convinced that The Flying Gun was a modified Mosquito but reading through the trade it's explicitly referred to as a souped up B-25.
