I don't really like most of the changes to the characters personalities. I really don't like how Tulip's back story has been changed. I see no reason for her to now be from a stereotypical "bad" family (prostitute mum, deadbeat uncle) other than to show how Jesse was so kind as a child blah blah blah. If they wanted her to have a tragic past simply changing her dad's death to a less comic one would have been fine.

I find Jesse very dull and I'm hoping the Saint actually IS the Saint and not just some mass killer in Hell.

i am missing herr starr/the grail and the sexual investigators.

cassidy rocks and the fight scenes are so absurdly beatiful. cassidys intro alone is fucking gold.

I can happily lose the sex investigators but yes, I don't want o wait multiple seasons for Starr to become a main character. But I wonder how they'll handle all the Grail/bloodline stuff as I can't see American audience overwhelmingly accepting it.

maybe because you have 60% people whom believe angels are real and may take it as an insult?

the sexual investigators were part of the absurdity of it all. there is actually no remotely sane person in the whole book, its just an ever accelerating crescendo of bombarding absurdity and starr topped it all. i loved preacher.

We're not all zealots over here. I would imagine that most churchy folks would not even tune into a show like this in the first place.

No, but it wouldn't stop the idiots (not all Christians but a vocal minority) making a LOT of noise about it. Especially now we have I many social media outlets to blow things up.

I get there's many many smart people in the US but you are a early, really religious country in comparison tonBritain and tbh I think some of the stuff in Preacher oils be too much even for some of our Chriatians. You e very vocal , powerful religious people.

And some of the stuff in Preacher IS enormously offensive, intentionally so. You don't have to be a zealot to be offended by the idea of the offspring of Christ being inbred lunatics. And there's nothing wrong with being offended by that, it's just how you deal with and express that.

They can (and will) make as much noise as they want but I doubt it will cause the show runners to go in some other direction on the subject matter. Dan Brown novels sell and their flicks did well over here. Someone is always protesting something and they have the freedom to do so. But sacrilegious material flies all the time. I don't see it as being an issue. If I am wrong I will eat my hat

Well of course they'd be inbred lunatics, anybody that in breeds for that many years is going to have a pretty fucked up gene pool.

I still need to finish the series though. I find the TV series interesting, but at times I find the story kind of lacking and the characters not that interesting.

Hmmmmmmmmm.

Ultimately I think that was a little too self indulgent,  I can appreciate me some slow paced storytelling but they really stretched out what they had to fill those ten episodes.

In for season two all the same.

I'll give this show one thing, its use of music is really freaking great.

I liked it, all things considered. I found comics Custer to be something of a neo macho -orwhatever you want to call it- stereotype, and I like show Jesse a bit better.

I agree with Pooka on Tulip, though I like Negga in the role. I'm sad to see that Tulip's relationship with her father is out.

100% agreed on TV Custer, he's a far more interesting character than his comic counterpart.

Herr Starr is a glaring omission from season 1. Having Jesse and Tulip as childhood friends changes their dynamic.Sending Arseface to hell? Why can the voice send him there and not bring him back? the inconsistencies with the power of the voice irk the fuck out of me. And Quincannon's loophole that he serves the god of meat so the voice didn't work on him the way Jesse intended? vomit! i was hoping to see him fucking his meat fuck doll but I knew that wouldn't happen.

All that said, I enjoyed the finale. but I have a question: in the show, Jesse murders a guy in cold blood. I didn't think, other than the forces against him hurling foes at him non stop, he'd killed anyone before because of that whole redneck hillbilly honor thing. That's why Cassidey is an abomination, cuz he murders. I think having Jesse  be a murderer makes his character less sympathetic unless you're playing for the way too obvious restitution/penance angle. I might be wrong and he did kill someone in the past, but I don't think so. The Saint, so far, is elegant in its accuracy to my mind.
