wait, I heard on the news this was actually because Charles said he was annoyed by some Maori women showing their breasts during a ceremony he witnessed?
Women have been getting their breasts out at the Royal Family for years !
Oh wait, I meant to say "the Royal Family have their knockers".

They're gorgeous.

One of the most bizarre protest combinations since the Countryside Alliance's combo of foxhunting, ramblers, Tories and Morris Dancers.
Two women in New Zealand BARED THEIR BREASTS at Prince Charles (as if he's never seen subjects of the empire show their chests at him before !)
But what were they protesting ?
The traditional ANTI-ROYALIST / PUBLIC BREASTFEEDING alliance !
Silly women should have dressed as Xena and Gabrielle.

If you are near London and want to cheer Tom on, we are going to watch That Awful Film on Good Friday (kind of seems appropriate, doesn't it?) in one of London's cheaper cinemas (tbc).
We'll also be off to see The Broken Family Band on the evening, in an attempt to alleviate symptoms of having watched the film.
If you are in London tonight and want to see the film for FREE send me an email adeheathen{at}aol{dot}com

The con thing was Matadoor, not Tears, who also professed "it's not the comic and for that I am so very very sorry" (insert pic of Father Jack being sarcastically contrite here).
Johnny C's put a lot more depth in his arguments other than this thing about "invalid" criticisms, although that seems to be his main focus. Tackling that from a different perspective, I like Keanu films, therefore I might say that anyone who criticises the film because they do not like him has an "invalid" criticism. And the film has a modified version of Catholic mythology, therefore anyone who says it is a poor film because the mythology of the film does not match Catholic beliefs has "invalid" criticism.
These criticisms are not irrelevent, Johnny, hardly anyone is saying it is a bad film because it is a dreadful adaptation. Many here are saying it is a bad film and a bad adaptation. Some are saying it's a good film and a bad adaptation.
Since you wish to give the film credit for being "not that far from the source material", it seems that detracting from the film because it is far from the source (Hellblazer) that is popular with people here is quite reasonable.
What you have to realise is that there are many things removed from Hellblazer because "they would not work in a film" and replaced with facets that do not work in this film. Read the threads.
Oh and as far as I can see, every aspect of the film has been subject to criticism here, and yet Johnny seems to keep bringing up the poor adaptation criticism - now that is like Tears in Rain.

Was going to pick that up in Murder One this week. As I said before, her story in "Best British Murder Mysteries" is very Hellblazerian (sorry not Constantinian !)

It may be that demons and their offspring can come back again and again ...
qv Anton Arcane, Nergal and MANY MORE !
But let's see what happens !

Gabriel was FOR God.
But not by God's rules.
In Gabriel's mind, mankind does most godlike things at times of great peril, so by being threatened by a global crisis at the hands of Mammon, Man would turn to God.
The "child" was that demon-looking thing that Lucy dragged off to Hell. ie his "son" Mammon.

Welcome Genevieve.
I don't think there's enough consensus on HB art to criticise you for not liking much of it :-)
I guess that one of the reasons we're so collectively upset about the film is that Constantine's a fairly unique comic - even though similar characters have appeared. And the film seems to be (liberally) changing many of the different things that Hellblazer readers like - to make the character popular.
But no, the comic is not for everyone.

I think what happened is I cleared out cookies...this should have me back there...anyway, where's Ellie lately?
And--Wapping or Pimlico?
I'm messing around with the location in the interests of accuracy (and email conversations with Mike Carey)
It could have been Hammersmith or Putney in the West.
I guessed Wapping in the East, but I've since reviewed my opinion since it needs to more central (this is based on FACTS presented in the two stories).
So it was then Pimlico.
There are three pubs that fit the bill in that stretch between Parliament Square and Albert Bridge. The Morpeth Arms is over the river from the SECRET SERVICE, MI5 building (as seen in Queen and Country). So that would be nice.
But ...
If you look at #191, it should be on the south side of the river because of the sunset in the West. However the castle in the background is a total nonsense.
So let's pretend the Sun is the Moon.
Similarly the footbridge over the road would be a LONG way from the river on the north side (to be honest, that's why Wapping was my first choice). And it has to be near traintracks (which you can see on the Pimlico map).
For the record, if you ignore the river, the preferred option is The Artillery on Bunhill Row (near the graves of William Blake and Daniel Defoe).
John, in the interests of continuity (and who really minds all that ??) you can choose one of the following.
The Morpeth Arms (as not quite seen in this map note footbridge and trainlines, note GOVT. OFF. just over the river - nothing like hiding in plain view !)
Or Pimlico as suggested upthread.

Never got round to one before, because my hand hurts when I draw.
However I did cook breakfast at one ...

If only I hadn't just sent a parcel to Serbia OR Montenegro as the post office insisted. "What's the price difference?" I said. "No difference," she replied.
"Oh, better put Serbia then!"

Tour of the UK, this sounds great, but is the UK that dire?
(Or you just mean it could be.)
Oh yes.
From Avebury to Zetland.
There's the antiquities and the old haunted mansions.
But also sinister places like Jodrell Bank, Portmeirion, Norwich and Roslyn Chapel.
We've had football stadia death sites.
But there's morose places like Lynton and Lynmouth. Exmoore. Norwich. Glasgow or Edinburgh depending on your mood. Carlisle (where they have a cursing stone). And (Tom will no doubt back me up ...) Swansea !
-
Yeah. Tour of the UK. Simple as that.
Occasional single issues or vignettes within issues to tell us how key characters are doing. At least one issue per year dedicated to Gemma.

Actually, he has one website to which those (that are still active) are linked.
Along with a few others.
He's a writer.
He writes.
And most of that stuff is put out spontaneously without all the thought, editing, rethinking and formatting.
(And he still writes betterer than many so-called "productive" writers)

Because, as the Holy Kylie Minogue says "it's better the devil you know"

Ray Winstone. Chas. Look no further.
Oh please do look further.

But let's be clear, while we are arguing for arguing's sake, that Tears capitulated on many fronts. And went "very quiet" on the con thing once he'd seen the finished film.
He's not Johnny C though.
