  1. not useless, as i clearly could have done with knowing that... thanks for the heads up.
  2. glad you enjoyed it atticus - thanks for the kind words. which page do you mean by the way? (my pages are numbered differently to the published...) the checkpoint page? the flag on his arm?
  3. colour on the interior pages you mean? it can often be suggested in the script, but the decision is mine... any reason?
  4. he's on vauxhall bridge at the end, no? there is every chance however, that the view you see in the last panel might not comply with that geographically... artistic license i'm afraid! thanks for all the kind words everyone - this book did turn into a pretty epic undertaking in a lot of ways, and it's great to finally see it out there. cheers jock
  5. right, had a chance to look through... thanks all so much for the entries. a lot of goodies to choose from. difficult to choose - so i'm basing this on just how much i smiled or laughed when i first saw them. someone has to win, but you're all winners/have the x factor/believe in your dreams etc. in 3rd place -- Ade's Cameron. it just made me laugh as soon as i saw it. topical, funny. in 2nd place -- Jason T's drawing. although it doesn't actually have the dialogue, and i did say that artistic ability didn't matter, it's a brilliant little drawing and again, made me laugh when i saw it. nice one jason! but in 1st place, it has to be Red... so many good ones, bollywood etc, but even that first astronaut made me laugh out loud. straight away it raised the bar. congrats Red! DM me your address. thanks again all - hope you get the chance to see the book anyway. hope you enjoy it. all the best Jock
  6. all looking good! any last minute stragglers?? if not i'll go through the pics tonight - i have a deadline (at 12am) so i may have to announce the winner tomorrow morning. get those last minute ideas in! all welcomed!
  7. ha --- these are great! ade's cameron took me by brilliant surprise. genius. lovely entries all round. judging tomorrow, or could be pushed to monday if we have any latecomers needing the time.
  8. brilliant.. that's what i'm talking about. encore! and yes, post here if possible. drawing ability isn't an issue, it's always the idea that'll win through - jock
  9. okay, here's the quote -- "Don't speak to me. I don't know who you are, or why you're here, John Constantine. But you've stretched your credibility to it's limit" a drawing/image/creation of what john's doing at this point in time. no need for a mona lisa, just a humorous idea would be great. the winner, announced at the end of the week, will get a signed copy of the book with a drawing inside. entries in by, say, thursday?
  10. sorry guys - lame i know, but i'll have to set this up on monday (boy off school, going away for the weekend) tho there hasn't been much response so i'm not sure anyone will really mind! i'll check in monday.
  11. sorry, been out all of today.. i'm liking the illustration idea! i'll check back in here in the morning when i'm back in the studio, and we'll get this going. feel free to suggest other ideas in the meantime! have a good evening - jock
  12. just mentioned the competition on twitter, so now i need suggestions asap so i can get this book sent off before release date to make the comp. worthwhile...
  13. i was shocked by my haul.. DC sent me 50 copies of the book. very pleased. i've had loads of people asking me on twitter for a free copy too i'm afraid, i'd love to help everyone, but..... maybe i should do some sort of competition here on this board? maybe win a signed copy with a sketch in it. any ideas?
  14. just got my comp copies from DC - it's (finally) released on Feb 10th. hope you enjoy it --- http://tweetphoto.com/9075469
  15. i have no idea! sorry. i reffed the gun tho, so it must be something. maybe a device to show up artists shortcomings?
  16. i just try to have each scene and location have a certain hue... i think it helps clarify the story telling and add atmosphere. there's some night blues in there later on, and there will be reds. i think it's just chance that the pages you've seen are those particular colours. tho i do like greens, i must admit... the calm before the storm.
  17. hey no worries, i'm just not a fan of slightly misplaced opinions taking weight and getting out of control... this was all me! i'll take the bullet for the eds at vertigo anytime. and yes, i've used letratone all throughout the book. check out some of the b/w samples to see it in it clearer. thanks! j
  18. one more for luck ------ here's one of the pages coloured this morning.
  19. Jock - If you don't mind me asking, what was your first experience of Constantine? (as in where did you first come across the character - not when did he first perform some pub-based voodoo at you. Although, if that did turn out to be the case...) well, the first issue i picked up was (i think) #62... a glenn cover with john holding a spade by a grave? i loved glenn's painted covers at the time and i was beginning to try and pursue comics art as a career, having just finished art college. that led me to dig out some more of garth's run and enjoyed all of jenkin's/sean's issues. it was my favourite title and it was my dream job for a long time. in fact, andy diggle and i had an idea for a 5 page story which we were going to work on on spec. to try and get a job at vertigo. then THE LOSERS happened and my first offer of work before that was #181 - as i say, a total dream job at the time! loved jamie's early issues (it was a HORROR BOOK! something that seems to get occasionally lost along the way), so i'm hoping PANDEMONIUM sits well in the cannon. fingers crossed!
  20. no, with PANDEMONIUM that was totally my fault i'm afraid... it's not fair to blame things on people without knowing the full story. the b/w art was late, due to personal circumstances, and that led to the book being delayed. not vertigo's fault at all.
  21. updates updates ------ sorry for the lack of news - here's what's happening with the book, which will then hopefully reflect on the title as a whole. PANDEMONIUM is all drawn, but it has been pushed back in the schedule. this is both good news and bad news - the good news art wise is it's allowed me to take up colouring duties again, the bad news being that it won't come out now til JAN 2010. DC didn't want to release it just for the sake of it in some random month this year. more good news too - as i understand it it's been pushed back to jan to kick off what will be hellblazer year - marking the 25th anniversary of john's first appearance in SWAMP THING. (any jokes about how i've managed to delay a book from it's 20th year to it's 25th are now welcome here....) i think this will also allow pete milligan to read PANDAMONIUM, and if appropriate be 'aware' of it in the monthly title. so, although it's a bit of a wait yet, it feels like DC are doing the right thing in the big scheme of things. hope that's of interest! here's a couple of coloured pages in the meantime cheers jock
