I'm surprised anyone remembers the movie. It didn't seem like the type of movie that would be remembered, considering the comic never followed the movie story, I thought people who loved the movie would just forget it.

A lot more people saw that movie than have ever read the comics so not surprised to hear there are at least a few fans knocking around out there.

Don't mind if I do.

But why do you want me to?

Slash fiction, Red.

Can you do Nick Necro too?

Red, can you post a picture of yourself so I can do the full, loving, and intimate description of a Keanu-Red-Necro train?

A lot of people mention the film whenever I talk about the TV show or comic, but pretty much none of them can remember anything that happened in it. I think I've said it before, but the only ones who seem to have actually been paying any attention were videogame graphic artists, since just about every virtual hellscape in the half-dozen years since its release used its look. Which was pretty great, admittedly.

I'm not sure that five people really Constitute a campaign, though.

those keanu people can eat a dick.

Could you please tone down the aggression a tiny bit? When the film came out, several Keanu-lovers joined the forum, and turned out to be nice people, and some of them loved the comic when they read it, and understood why we thought the film wasn't a good adaptation.

I quite like that trailer for the tv series that's online: the mystic handwaving stuff looks a bit "Garth Marenghi's Dark Place", but it seems that they're keeping Astra and his proper origin story, at least.

no, i won't, but i won't comment anymore on this thread so you win, red. besides, i was only talking about the ones who have a problem with the tv show not casting keanu because that's ridiculous and they are being idiots. i'm not talking about keanu fans in general or fans of the film. just these idiots who can't understand why he isn't Constantine on tv.

Jeff Lemire based Nick Necro on the Keanu Reeves version of Constantine. Why he then made Nick Necro so much cooler than John Constantine, I'll never know...Although, I think at the end of Forever Evil, John proved himself to be more evil than Nick Necro, so everything worked out well in the end.

I also heard that the TV show bought the rights to adapt Hellblazer and not Constantine...and then named it Constantine (I understand they thought they needed a different title, but...)...so, they won't be able to bring in characters like Nick Necro. Dammit all!

I personally could have cared less if Keanu Reeves played Constantine or not. I'm not very concerned with the look or the fact of his nationality or any of that...I just want it to be true to the character from the comic books. Hence, the movie sucked, but not because of any thing related to Reeves, really. I hate the idea that Constantine is interested in redeeming himself and getting in to Heaven...they can fuck off with all of that.

I'd prefer to not have Reeves as the actor playing Constantine, in any form, as I don't think he's a good fit, but the fact that the movie was bad had nothing, intrinsically, to do with Keanu Reeves. Not in my view.

If the TV series gets going, they should get Keanu to play Nick Necro.

Don't tempt fate.....

Besides, I want Misha Collins

You're not having any of Paul Jenkins' run then, Christian?

I don't remember the part of Jenkins' Hellblazer where John started talking about Heaven and thinking about how he was going to find salvation....

In fact, just the opposite, I remember John playing a con on God at the end of Jenkins' run in order to save his friends.

If you mean that John was trying to change himself and improve himself, then that's totally different. I don't have a problem with John wanting to mature and not make the same mistakes.

Also, I wouldn't want to see that front and center in any Constantine related material as it started. Jenkins was following on the characterization of Delano and Ennis. Constantine had been around a long time, he was over the age of 40. There's a difference between entering that into the character's psyche after nearly 100 issues, versus making that a core component of the character, as if he's just another supernatural character in search of God's forgiveness for his wrong actions.
