No synopsis yet, but a recurring character "Eddie" from the previous episode.

Anne Marie, a member of the Newcastle crew, asks John and Chas for help in Mexico City -- bringing them close to the heart of the rising darkness; Zed is haunted by her past.

Edited by John Mc to add the synopsis, I'll leave the poll to you Mister Brown.

Description:

A call from Anne Marie (guest star Claire van der Boom), a member of the fateful Newcastle crew, sends John (Matt Ryan) and Chas (Charles Halford) to Mexico City and brings them closer to the source of The Rising Darkness. Meanwhile, Zed’s (Angélica Celaya) past comes back to haunt her.

And a face and name to match our Anne Marie:

I wonder if Eddie's the designated Ben Cox since we won't get the little stutterer himself

After last week, I can't believe how wrong I was about Eddie

It was, I reckon, a minor mis-step to have an actress a couple of years younger than Matt Ryan play Ann Marie.

She took on the role well enough, and they referred to her introducing John to her world.

But you know, Hollywood regulations require women to be employed who are younger than the character.

Not keen on the Invunche.

The Good News

No use of the map. This will pretty much always get my approval. Until they burn it.

Matt Ryan in Mucous Membrane get up.

I enjoyed Zed mooching around the Constantine Cave Lock Up Mill of Solitude. But the tactic of showing something that we know will be used later in this episode needs to have a loose end every now and again

(As Hitchcock said, "you don't show a door into the abyss in Act 1, unless someone is going to plunge through it in Act 2.)

When the

EVIL VAMPIRE NUN

appeared, everyone knew she was the

EVIL VAMPIRE NUN

There used to be a website that featured medical errors in comics and adaptations, and

the Resurrection Crusade doping syringe ticked all the inaccuracy boxes.

But otherwise, this ticked over as a nice cliffhanger episode and moved the series along well.

Use of pre-Christian mythology, albeit in a Christian context (THERE ARE NUNS, WHAT DO YOU FUCKING WELL EXPECT?)

There was a moment when they leave the convent when Anne Marie asks John something like "What will you do if you get into trouble?" and we cut to Chas standing in the doorway for a moment and then back to John. :-D

I like the central story and thought it very clever linking it to the

Brujeria

so that it mirrors Zed's story.

And also those two strands worked well inter-laced.

Overall I liked that much more than any of the others, although there were (as Ade notes) plenty of predictable moments. Still not a fan of the writing, which is mediocre.

Ann Marie looks AMAZING for a middle aged woman, doesn't she?

Honestly, I'm as annoyed about that as the bisexuals are about John's girlfriends.

And the you-know-what looked a bit mid '00s Resident Evil for my liking. Hopefully it'll be a man-in-a-suit close up.
