Vagabond 161 Report post Posted November 6, 2016 Amazing visuals, some of the best CGI I've ever seen, very solid acting, mediocre villain and mediocre script. All in all a good Marvel movie.
Lou K 1,128 Report post Posted November 6, 2016 Yeah I loved it. Saw in 3D. Very intense visuals
Vagabond 161 Report post Posted November 6, 2016 I was decently smacked on weed which definitely enhanced the experience. Wonder if they'd have been able to make this movie if Inception had never come out.
A. Heathen 1,215 Report post Posted November 6, 2016 Glad I didn't watch it in 3D (as in Ditko Cubed). I liked it a lot.
Spain 66 Report post Posted March 22, 2017 I haven't watched Iron Man, so I really liked Dr Strange. Dormammu was based on the face of Benedict too. Question: is Strange going to appear along with the avengers or Thor or something like that? I dont follow Marvel aside of few comics of Deadpool so I dont know the link between Strange and other Marvel characters and stories.
Christian 900 Report post Posted March 22, 2017 He's not really very involved with any other Marvel characters. He's usually been in his own corner of the Marvel Universe, working with magic. He was a member of the Defenders (with Hulk, Silver Surfer, and Sub-Mariner), but Marvel seems to be using a different definition for that team, based on their TV series. I doubt we'd ever see any sort of classic Defenders team on the big screen, especially since the Hulk movies didn't do very well, and Silver Surfer is stuck with the FF franchise in limbo, as far as movies. It's up the movie creators what they want to do though. His never having been an Avenger in the comics doesn't necessarily mean that they wouldn't decide to put him in that group in the future. dogpoet 555 Report post Posted March 22, 2017 Funny you should mention that Christian... Are you sure he wasn't in the Avengers for an issue or two during the Roger Stern run in the early '80s? Every bugger else in the Marvel Universe seems to have been, after all.
Christian 900 Report post Posted March 23, 2017 Dr. Druid was in the Avengers during the Roger Stern run. Maybe Dr. Strange was an Avenger during the period when I didn't read Avengers....roughly post-Busiek and pre-Hickman. Actually, Hickman did use him in the Avengers, but, basically, every character in the Marvel Universe was an Avenger during Hickman's run, since the Marvel Universe was coming to an end, and it takes quite a number of superheroes to try to deal with a threat of that magnitude. I sort of just think of "Avengers" as during the "classic" period, ending with the end of Busiek's run. The book just turned in to a mess, as far as membership, after that point, I think. It went from "Earth's Mightiest Heroes" to "Who's Who in the Marvel U". Too hard to keep track of everyone's continuity. Dr. Strange was involved in Infinity Gauntlet and Infinity War....but, so was every other character featured in the titles being published by Marvel during that time period. dogpoet 555 Report post Posted March 23, 2017 Fair enough. I'm sure if you were making a definitive list of members it'd be easier to name good guys who weren't ever in the Avengers than the shitload who were.
Christian 900 Report post Posted March 23, 2017 Yeah, at this point I think it might come down to a few X-Men and some really C-list characters, like Skull the Slayer.
dogpoet 555 Report post Posted March 23, 2017 Was Conan ever in the Avengers? I know he joined the X men and destroyed the universe in a What If...
Christian 900 Report post Posted March 23, 2017 Really? So, Conan was a mutant? I didn't read that issue of What If?. No. I'm pretty sure none of the Robert E. Howard crew were ever Avengers. However, a number of the Marvel Western characters were Avengers.
dogpoet 555 Report post Posted March 23, 2017 Those massive drawn out Englehart Kang stories were pretty great, weren't they? Don't worry, Conan isn't a mutant. He was a token human X Men like Longshot, for about ten minutes before the universe ended. The story was more an excuse to send Wolverine back to Hyperboria than a proper Conan story, and wasn't half as good as the modern Conan What If as a result. It had Wolverine and Conan switching places during the Pheonix and Mrrkan crystal story so that could end in a shambles and leave Wolverine to take over Conan's role. It also (iirc) established that Jean Grey is the spit of Red Sonja...
Christian 900 Report post Posted March 23, 2017 But....But....Claremont already had Mary Jane as the image of Red Sonja during his Marvel Team Up tenure. Is every red-head female in the Marvel Universe the progeny of Red Sonja?
dogpoet 555 Report post Posted March 24, 2017 Maybe Red Sonja, rather than Conan, was some sort of mutant? The woman with the most dominant genes in the whole of history...
