Solicited through to #20 at least, so it could easily slump to 6-7K before they kill it.

Got to wonder what the policy is regarding cancellation of a new series like this - Breach and Doom Patrol are, I believe, both still selling slightly higher numbers than these, and have still been cancelled. It certainly fuels the speculation about some form of behind-the-scenes agenda, possibly related to the movie TearsInRain was talking about a few days ago.

They're already on the second trade of this new "Swamp Thing" series so obviously someone is pushing it to succeed. I wonder what the sales for the first Diggle trade were? Was it enough to warrant a second trade? Perhaps it's another case of the trades keeping the monthly title alive.

I'm sure that's the case with the Losers, whose numbers are a little worse than Swamp Things but given the large percentage drop offs, ST will be in the toilet come #20.

I'm just narky at Karen Berger pushing such a poor book after giving the good word to Constantine.

I think I read somewhere that Vertigo titles are allowed to get by with lower sales due to them being mature readers.

Correct. Last I heard, cancellation mark without good trade sales was around 12,000. That might be lower since America hit economic trouble though.

Makes a lot of sense, since Vertigo titles tend to be aimed at a more niche market anyway. Even allowing for that, though, the sales figures JMac posted suggest to me that someone really should be sharpening an axe for this book.

I fully expect it to be cancelled soon, except if Tears was speaking the truth and they want to keep it going till a new Swamp Thing movie emerges.

I'd much rather get new trades of Rick Veitch's Swamp Thing run, though.

They have to trade the rest of that, it's dead good - crosses over quite a bit with Hellblazer over the course of the next 12 issues after the last trade though.

They need to trade the rest of Hellblazer too.

They finally got around to axing "Human Target", after it had been doing horrid sales pretty well since #2. Of course, that was a damn good series, where "Swamp Thing" is so damn generic.

They cancelled "Breach"? I don't really care, but I never heard about that.

Heard Breach was very confusing and annoying.

The Losers is indeed coming to an end soon, but apparently Diggle planned it that way from the beginning. Vertigo promised last year that it wouldn't get canned early, despite low monthly sales, because the trades are doing so well.

No, and the the recently announced books look more MNEMOVORE than  Y: THE LAST MAN in terms of prospective success.

that said, I think pretty much all comics by relative newcomers are suffering in the sals department. and frankly, Mnemovore couldn't even hold my interest through the first issue.

At least they let Diggle finish off "The Losers". I'm surprised the sales for "100 Bullets" have dropped. Are folks just waiting for the trades or is the 2-month wait between issues hurting it? At least at this rate "Hellblazer" is still within the top 4 of Vertigo sales and probably won't get the axe anytime soon.

speaking of sales, THE BEAT had an interesting report today on how after Warren Ellis mentioned Scott Pilgrim on his blog, that book shot up from 15,704 to 1,700 on the amazon sales chart. they make some vague references as to how many books that'll be but I'm unsure how it works.
