Sethos's art (NSFW)

I did not care for the art of his X Men book at all

Let me guess: Lots of gratuitious booty shots?

there's no such thing as too much of that! No, I just mean that his art has taken a turn away from detailed in recent years and it seems that all the women are the same, just with different hairstyles.

Sounds right. I don't know his stuff very well, but I've read some earlier comics by him, and it was that your sketches reminded me of. And though I may not be a huge fan of his stories, there's no doubt that he's an extremely accomplished artist. So it was intended as a compliment.

Manara's earlier stuff really is excellent, even the later Guiseppe Bergman books are still very interesting, but nowadays he only seems to draw erotica/porn. a shame.

UPDATE!!! pff, I need to post more regularly. Anyway, this year I've done a lot of drawings of girls on trains...

This last one is my favourite, it was a very cute asian skateboard girl sitting across from me. she had a big scar on her forehead and quite a few bruises on her arm (and a skateboard, which she nearly crashed upon leaving the train)

posted some Felix Castor fan art in the relevant thread

final batch for now:

A nightmare I had about a guy on fire chasing me... I've had this dream many, many times, but funny enough, not since I drew this one!

5269425090_67d28c0da1_b_d.jpg

A sketch I really like. responsible for driving me back to the old pen and ink over the last month instead of brushpens and fineliners like I've used for most of the year:

a small drawing for the comic I've been working on, which is going rather well. I'll start posting this (it'll probably end up being around 70-100 pages) sometime this coming spring. yes, it's the same thing the topless girl with the axe and the other spiders belong to. my Christmas card is part of it as well (which I'll post after Christmas, want to give it at least a chance to get to some of the message board folks via snail mail):

Both the Norway-pics and the burning man are great! And yes, you SHOULD post more.

Dreams! You draw dreams! Awesome!

Sadly for my dreams to be drawn, I should have studied architecture. Damned dream-city and its archologies...

Me too. I notice that your female portraiture is always, hmm, can I say "More engaged" than maybe your male portraiture?.

:)

Kind of like your fingers are saying "oh yes, some bloke, well, I will give it a shot" one moment, then "Oh yes, yes indeed, curves, I got a thing for curves, bay-bee"

I wish I could draw as well as you do. But not enough to actually invest the sort of determination that would gain me it as a skill, obviously.

well, I definitely prefer the female form, yeah. That said, I thought the drawing of Serge Gainsbourg on the previous post was quite ok. the thing is, all those girls on the previous page (exceot the one with the huge spider of course) were done as five to ten minute sketches during train rides. it helps you really focus on getting every line right, the time constraint. there's a live drawing sesion coming up in September with a bunch of burlesque models which I'll be attending so you should see even more curves on display then!

more new train girls! FYI, all of these are done in A6 sized sketchbooks. I switch between Fabriano Venezia (which have the best paper stock but are difficult to get and have binding that is so tight they are nearly impossible to lay down flat without breaking/cracking the book's spine) and Derwent Safari (the drawings on the yellowy/cream coloured pages, it's a Moleskine ripoff but with much better paper. not as good as the Venezia though).

done this past week, she had her sunglasses on the whole trip from Amsterdam to Utrecht:

I like how I did her coat:

her hair was bright yellow and orange, would have done it in colour if I'd brought my watercolour set:

I'm getting decent at drawing ladies' bags:

6684437579_5064e9c3fa_b_d.jpg

she had lovely hair. her eyelashes weren't really that long, pen skipped due to bumpy trainride:

6684437899_240af1c288_b_d.jpg

everybody seems to be checking their phones all the time during train trips these days:

6130016904_9c61753741_b_d.jpg

this one was a really fast one, approx 2 minutes excluding inkwash. You can't see it very well on the drawing (it's a big scan but the actual size was about 3x3 inches) but she has a lip ring:

6563506469_c71b659a9d_b_d.jpg

cute Maroccan/Arabic looking girl (gorgeous hair, and hey, she's not checking her phone!):

6129468197_96938a50fe_b_d.jpg

loved her thick hair, happy with the way I managed to do draw the fabric of her coat:

6563505581_2decb4c915_b_d.jpg

this one saw me drawing her, wanted to see the sketch. not sure what she thought of it, she only asked as we were rolling into Utrecht station so we both had to leave the train:

6563505865_accdf3fa9c_b_d.jpg

and here's the most recent one (done the day before yesterday). Asian girl checking her iphone, while her earphones were plugged into some other device in her pocket. cyberpunk, man! Also, for some reason I did this in an almost Simon Gane style. not that that's a bad thing, I love his stuff.

Very sexy

have to say, two of the models (both of them were into that 20 minute pose) were incredibly hot.

one of tonight's Dr. Sketchy's model #1 had huge breasts for her quite small frame, I found it hard to draw them in their true size for some reason. yeah, okay, I was distracted a bit by her shaking her stuff  :

Zebra brushpen with inkwash. 10 minutes:

decided to take the plunge and do pen and ink sketches. Conté Plume Atome, inkwash, 10 minutes:

Conté Plume Atome, inkwash, 5 minutes:

mind you, the other model was nice too:

Zebra brushpen with inkwash. she really knew how to dance with those ostrich feathers!

best drawing of the evening, 20 minutes with Japanese G-pen nib, ink and inkwash:
