I was just fliping through an issue of Entertainment Weekly from late 2004.It was at the bottom of a box full of shit in a closet full of lots of boxes of tons of shit, before discarding it I flipped through it to see if there was a reason I had kept it as opposed to trashing it.There was a tiny blurb about upcoming deals being signed and negotiated and one"insider"stated that Keanu Reeves was in talks to"...portray Emperor Constantine in an upcoming film from Warner Brothers studios..."

When we complain,we do it like the Romans would've.I believe they are proud.

I thought that sounded like the dumbest idea ever.By the way,if I ever get a time machine I am going to sell the 25 year old me a bridge.

The voting figures in the poll boggle the mind. They're bogus, yes?

Just read that keanu is playing the Michael Rennie role in this summer's re-make of one of my all-time fave sci-fi movies of all-time The Day The Earth Stood Still.

"Gort - Klaatu barada nicto dude!"

hey, I still like Keanu, so I'll watch it.

I think it was Andy Diggle who said he would have Clive Owen play John. I know there's not a crazy amount of resemblance, but he's a sharp lookin' guy, a great actor, great at playing that EXACT sort of character, and best of all British.

I saw the movie before reading the comics (though the movie didn't inspire me to pick them up, I found a All His Engines for dirt cheap and it looked good) and I really liked the movie. Then I read the comics and I felt like the movie was trying to make an orange look like an apple. In this case, the movie, by any other name would have been better received. And as said on here before, it's one of the better movies of its genre.

Personally, I think it would be right on to have an ADULT animated series (like Spawn had) that is really well done and kicks a lot of ass. Like a non-rushed really ambitious project with great art, great voice acting, and true-to-the-story plots.

On the other hand, we never see movies and are like "Man that would make a great book or graphic novel", yet we read books or graphic novels and want a movie of them. I guess it's because real life motion and audio is more stimulating than imagining it yourself, but I think there's something to be said for the integrity of the comic medium. It's kind of like this for me, words on a page can read at any pace. You can stop and think about them, reread them, contemplate the meaning, and understand it better. Not only does a comic offer that substantial benefit to written word, but it also gives you a visualization which is an artistic manifestation of the written word. Doesn't make a movie sound so grand does it?

I think it's some sort of communal thing. Reading a novel is a totally individual, introverted experience, whereas most of humanity are social animals by nature. The movie is a way to share the experience with other humans, by seeing it brought to the external, extroverted realm.

A major problem I have is reading a book that a movie was based on if I saw the movie first.

So many salient plot points were already mapped out for me. The ending was given away. The scenes and characters were already invented for me. It ruins the magic and suspense and imagination that comes with reading the book. I just won't be able to immerse myself in the world of the novel.

I guessed everyone assumed your question was rhetorical. Of course they are bogus as only registered members can vote in polls and there ain't that many of us.

Ah, see I didn't know that. I assumed they were bogus, but maybe, just maybe, by some freak of the net hordes of filmfans had been directed here to vote...

There's a website called "fanedit" on which people take existing films and reedit them. I guess it was spawned by the success of the Phantom Edit of Episode I which had no Jar Jar and very little of the little Anikin (except for the podrace). I'll post the links to it. Please let me know if that's not allowed. I don't have time to download 36 parts of a movie, but if someone here has a rapidshare account and an FTP, I'd love to DL the whole thing at once and see if it was improved at all. I'd trade something in return. ANyway, the Re-edited Keanustein:

Well, it depresses me. But the scuttlebutt on that site says the dude's edit is better than the original. Considering the director has [over-used word]-stantine, Legion, Britny and Justin Timberlake videos as his film credits, a mouse with an xacto knife and a stack of Polaroids could probably make a better film.

IESB spoke with Keanu Reeves today at the Street Kings junket where he revealed that a second Constantine was probably not going to ever happen.

Just a few months back, director Francis Lawrence mentioned the possibility of a sequel but said that it all depended on a script. Reeves was decidedly less optimistic and said that despite planning it at one time, a second go-round as John Constantine wasn't something he'd be interested in doing anymore.

The film, of course, was based on Vertigo comics longest running series, Hellblazer. With roughly 200 issues and still counting, there's plenty of story to fuel a franchise. It sounds like it's more an issue of not wanting to retread the same water. Reeves also mentioned that there are no characters left that he's played that he has any desire to return to, killing all our hopes for middle-aged Bill and Ted.
