Constantine In The UK

Recommended Posts

Something has gone horribly wrong when the poster for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is scarier and more sinister than the one for a Hellblazer adaptation.

Crap tagline, too. Prefer the one for the American poster.

"The wager between heaven and hell is on earth"?

What the fuck is it supposed to mean???

If it said "... and the prize is earth" that might make sense.

Crap, crap, crap, crap , crap.

"There's a wager between heaven and hell and whoever wins, we lose"

"There's a wager between heaven and hell about how shit this film will be"

"There's a wager between heaven and hell; heaven was sure that it's pronounced Constant-I-ne, but hell bets them a tenner that it's Constant-ee-n"

Too close to AvP. Besides, in the film Heaven is awesome and would be great if it took over the world ^_^ OMG Christ is Lord!!!!

I'm wondering if it's just a poor translation of the German one.

German, James?

And wiew my French is so good, I almost translated the tagline perfect.

Though somewhere else I read that the translation was: Hell and Heaven challenge each other. It is played out on earth. That one is better I think.

I figured it was German because the good Constantine website was, but you're right - it was French.

Someone said that on the Krix site that the tagline reads far better in French.

I have to wonder why we're getting taglines translated from European ones instead of the American tag, though.

The more I look at the Euroean poster the less I like it. Besides the terrible gun it shows a REALLY bad acting of Keanu Reeves.

Whoa! Now acting can be judged by single pics in posters! The art of judgement is becoming more and more beyond sophisticated ... :icon_rolleyes:

IMO Keanu is good on the poster, and I like the color, but that gun takes all that to the garbage... snif.

This might be the most dumb question you heard in your life but what means IMO?

* :blush: *

Oh and I don't like the poster too. It has no variety in color just like those hell photos that are TOO red. It's not a flattering Keanu picture too and I think it's not fair they didn't put Rachel's name on the poster.

Crap, that is one freaky poster. The Charlie one I mean. The Constantine one, sadly, is nothing special. At least Charlie and the Chocolate factory makes you look twice.

Why oh why is the gun there. And I never really paid attention to the fact it looks like a cross before.

This topic has been touched on before....

The UK and USA are the two biggest English speaking markets.

So, once the US market opens they have to hold off the launch in the UK so they can fly in all the US actors to ensure a 'Premier' style opening.

Don't worry, Nettie, he'll be there. He loves the Brits, doesn't he? And with a bit of luck, you leave the Gala Premiere with a nice big Constantine umbrella...
