Lawrence,Silver and Goldsman reunite for Sgt Rock...

Recommended Posts

....only it'll be set in the future, naturally.

There's almost no-chance that our old, much-missed comrade, Tears isn't involved in this.

“Sgt. Rock,” a long-gestating project based on the World War II hero from DC Comics, is moving forward … by going into the future.

Boys Own Action Movie.

Ok, chuck in a little 'War Is Hell' if you have to flash a serious face but an hour thirty of square jawed Marines beating up sausage-eating Krauts will go down a storm. It's only certain kinds of US jingoism that turns people away from the box office (I mean, how much did Independence Day make again ?).

Sgt. Rock was, from it's inception, pretty much a "war is hell" kind of comic.

If you want a caper, I'm sure Marvel'll have out a "Howling Commandos" film soon enough.

Hey, don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good grim war movie - I was speaking in ignorance of the source material.

That was in the late '60s.

There were all kinds of hippie attitudes about war back then.

That sort of stuff doesn't fly anymore.
