Hellblazer ends! Constanteen begins.

Recommended Posts

He was shown, remember how they changed him from a fat old beardy shmoe to a youngish Chas?

He was even in the preview that DC published in all their books before the mini was released.

He just kept following John around, and acting like a Olly Hardy character.

Holy hell, how did I miss all of that? Drugs. I blame the drugs, it's all I know to blame.

Yeah, I think this mini is in-continuity, since it kinda sets up the Nu52 Swampy...?

Here's the first sneak peak:

"What Constantine learns in this first issue

will shake the very foundations of the New 52…

and only he knows how to deal with it!"

So... nothing interesting or of consequence then. I adore how all of these titles trumpte massive consequences because of the storyline, and yet so few have any lasting impact at all.

It's because DC is trying to have things two ways at once.

They don't want to explain their new continuity, but they want to have as many cross-overs as possible and let everyone know it's an inter-connected world. So, you end up with this type of situation.

forgive a man's ignorance here, but didn't they already try that in their storied past?

Yes, but it wasn't tried by this particular group of jokers.

One of the worst things about borderline narcissistic editorial conceit is that it often leads to people assuming that the reason something didn't work before is because they weren't the one(s) doing it, and so whoever tried and failed before didn't do it properly, the way that they would have, rather than the idea being more or less unworkable in the first place.

What is with the loafers? "It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Innit."

I am more concern about the gigantic skeleton behind him.

That's Shaquille O'Neal's skeleton, dammit. Look at that skull. John Constantine can use the cranium as a helmet.

"There were giants in the earth those days."

Notice the quote from the Bible actually reads "IN the earth", so yeah, they knew what they were talking about.

Ah, I see. It's not that the artist doesn't know how perspective works, it's a hint that the story will be about nephilims. Right?

What's with the fucking white ankle socks with the terrible loafers? I mean, what's next, John finds himself in sandals and dark socks?
