Batwoman just earned a reprieve and will stay on my pull list awhile longer. That was a well done ending to the team-up with Wonder Woman (the best I've seen her drawn BTW). Should I bother telling anyone how amazing JHW3's art is? No, You know. The world knows. Just as the world knows, I'm sure, that

Kate proposes to Maggie Sawyer. And in her Batwoman uniform, no less. Thus, two whammies for the price of one. It was all well done & very natural, not forced or pretentious like others such "stunts" we've seen lately. She just went thru this HUGE life-changing event fighting monsters with a goddess, So, she realized what was important to her, Maggie. Also, Batwoman's #1 enemy is back!!! Yes, Alice has been resurrected by the DEO, who BW is working for.

It's confirmed! Snyder & Lee will be doing a monthly Superman book in June. No, they're not calling it Man of Steel. That would be silly. It will be called Superman Unchained.

http://www.newsarama...-unchained.html

No word if this will be Mature rated title, for extreme violence & harsh language, with Supes dropping the n-word.

Let's sing along: KAL-ELLLLLLLLLLL. KAL-ELLLLLLLL.

Stay tuned.

The "Batman and <insert name here>" title news is reassuring - in that they're not rushing a Robin 6.0 into the title (aye, I still count Tim Drake - you got a problem with that DC?) - but I don't want it to become a Batman team-up book long term.

Then again, if it works well - and if they can't gradually and believably introduce an new Robin - maybe that WILL be the way to go.

I guess "wait & see" applies here.

Don't worry folks. The Orson Scott Card debacle is ended. He's still quite the homophobe but he won't be writing a Superman story. DC shelved the story, essentially. Yeah they're going with the artist exiting, but I've a feeling the exit was approved before he even knew he wanted it. ;)

Good for CHris Sprouse for taking a stand.

Bad for us as I dig his stuff (but I would not have nought it anyways).

Kudos to Sprouse indeed, but it'd be nice if DC actually had the balls to announce that they've dropped the story, rather than insisting that they're waiting an artist who won't mind getting villified by the lgbt community to turn up and draw it.

(Also, looking at the links in Shawn's link, how awesome is David Gerrold's response to this?)

Good news Everyone! Starting in June, J.M. DeMatteis takes over full writing duties on Phantom Stranger. This might make me more interested. Assuming they let JMD do his thing.

And because I don't anyone to be too happy. Bad news everyone! Phantom Stranger will now be called Trinity of Sin: Phantom Stranger, along with Trinity of Sin: Pandora (Fawkes again!)....and eventually, I would assume, Trinity of Sin: The Question. Horrible. I like that they seem to have brought Vic Sage back, but he's not some quasi-cosmic force. UGH!

Fewer of these have been cancelled or changed than I thought.

All the Green Lanterns are changing creative teams?

That smells of crossover to me.

NB if you are buying in single issues, trade paperbacks or those MP3s that the kids are into, then vote.

If you are downloading them for free, you don't really count, do you? But vote

Oops, voted Batman for sceintific scale, meant Constantine.

Mostly my pull list has not changed, with Wonder Woman being sort of the exception in trades, a I was not buying a lot of these toitles to begin with..

However, I'll drop Action after Mo leaves, Swamp Thing after Snyder leaves and I don't expect Dial H to make it, because it is a good comic.

I can't believe DC is actually publishing the 99% vs. 1% titles as part of the "New 52".

At the end of this month, I'll be reading Batman Inc. (hoping Morrison leaves soon), Batman, Animal Man, and Dial H.

I voted "Constantine" for the scientific vote.

I voted Batman for the scientific vote because the whole new52 has moments of goodness in danger if being swamped by shit. Much like Batman in Gotham City, and the Bat-titles amongst the crap DC are putting out (well, the ones I buy)

There were two missing, but there are other, longer term books coming soon I believe.

Read the first issue of Katana.

It was blatantly pants, so I doubt I'll be investigating that one any further.

(Re Shawn's point: if they're not letting Ann Nocenti do her thang, what chance is there that they'll let the more mannered De Matteis do his, particularly on a comic that JemasDidio was previously writing himself?)

Just read Animal Man #18, and it's good to see Lemire getting back to what works best in AM, after Rotworld (which was great at the start, but distinctly just ok by the end).

But for fuck's sake DC.....[ Spoiler : first you bump off Damian Wayne, now it Cliff Baker!!!! You absolute bastards, he was another mouthy wee brat I'd quite grown fond of over the years. Dear DC, could you please stop killing all the children in your books. Thanks. ].

Certainly looks like it'll set up a domestic confrontation between Buddy & Ellen, given the topic of their truncated argument this month. I do enjoy the family dynamic in AM, but this looks like testing it.

Atticus, you have the right it! Can't Buddy just have some happiness? I know, it doesn't make for good drama.

I'm wondering if [ Spoiler : killing kids is the new women in refrigerators. I'll miss that mullet-headed little punk ]

Well, here's something to make you happy! Astro City is coming back in June. Yes, really! Straight from Busiek himself. It will be it's own thing, as before, with all the same creators. It sounds like Busiek has got himself caught up quite a bit, with Anderson, Ross & Co working on the visuals bit by bit.

Correct. It's been under DC for some years now. Ever since they bought up the Wildstorm line. So when they start it again, it will have a proper DC logo on it.

They should make it the next New 52 title! They can work it into DCU continuity, just like the old WildStorm properties! Think how awesome that will be! Maybe Constantine can appear in issue #4! Issue #4! Do it, DiDio! Do it!

There aren't enough exclamation marks for this post!

Holy shit, I'm down to 2 Batman books and Animal Man in the DCU. I hadn't realized I was getting so few DC comics. Thanks Nu52 for saving me money!

This reminds me that I read the first couple of issues of The Ravagers.

That was pretty dreadful comic...

For some reason I'm still giving Phantom Stranger a try with JDM as writer (ok Didio is still around like a bad fart). Issue #5 could've been god with Stranger confronting The Spectre. Brief moments of good were enveloped by hackneyed grudges. They basically argued the whole time. Then a guy with no face, who speaks only in questions makes a cameo @ the end.

Issue #6 was quite better, considering expectations were very low. But this angled in more of the right direction. Dr 13 steers the Stranger to a casino in Vegas, to find his missing "family." Once there PS plays a high stakes card game with Trigun three sons in some hellish pocket dimension, in the back. He also gets some surprise help. Also, good art by Gene Ha & Zander Cannon. This is at least an improvement & gives me slim hope.
