Of course! Wonder Woman and John Constantine are natural enemies. Her magic lasso makes people speak the truth, and John's superpower is the ability to lie. It makes perfect sense!

That looks just plain awful. If it isn't symbolic of the power struggle in the DC Comics offices, they should be ashamed.

As far as the Phantom Stranger goes: the current Previews listing has some horseshit line about him being driven to desperate measures to save his family.

So JMD can go and fuck himself as well as Didio, frankly.

Batman was okay. I don't how else to put it. It should be better. This read more like a fill-in team. MAYBE I'll stick around to check out Year Zero, with the Riddler and so on. But I doubt it.

i find all the batman titles to be cheesy. i even checked out batman inc because it seems to be the hottest one and the dialogue should have been sponsored by kraftt, it was so cheesy.

Batman Inc. used to be really good, when Morrison first started it. But, it's been going on for way too long now. You missed the best parts. It's not a good time to start reading Batman Inc., at all, as the book has about four more issues before the whole series ends.

I dig Batman Inc but it's part of a much larger story. Not sure how I'd feel about it if I just hopped on board

They must have made it double-sized and rushed it to the ending instead.

Well, that will mark it as Animal Man being the only DC book I will be buying. I'm quite pleased actually, as I'm unhappy with the direction DC has moved in and have no interest in the DCU anymore.

On the plus side, I hope this allows for China to write some creator-owned comics. Want to take bets he ends up at Image by year's end?

For me, that drops it to Green Arrow & Animal Man for certain. MAYBE still Swamp Thing & Batman. But I feel like now is a good time to drop those books and just get the trades at some point.

Of course I'm still buying Unwritten and will buy Trillium

The Adventures of Superman was better than I hoped it would be. It's not bad, but it didn't set my world on fire. It's more like something I'll visit on occasion, when I want a Superman story that doesn't make me want to immediately throw it in the trash. All the creators did a fine job. Samnee's art stood out and would be perfect for a Superman title....hell, he'd be perfect on probably 75% of the books put out by DC and Marvel. Also, Justin Jordan and Riley Rossomo (from Proof, remember that epic book!!!). I could stand to see more of Riley doing some DC work, to class up the joint. Jeff Lemire went with his touching, home spun route about kids playing "Superman", which was fine. It's far from the best Superman that's been, but it's far better than what's on the shelves now.

Comic Shop News got me all excited about some DC books by giving a taste of Morrison's upcoming Wonder Woman:Year One and the long-in-the-waiting Multiversity mini-series, but once again let me down by ending each article with the words, "No plans for release dates at this time, but hopefully we'll see these books sometime in 2013".

Thanks for sharing. This was more interesting to read than pretty much any DC comic in the last 2 years, and makes it pretty clear why DC sucks so much right now. Bravo Paul Jenkins

Astro City is back! And it is just as good as it ever it was! New & old readers can enjoy it Busiek weaves a very meta story with first contact from another dimension all around a familiar Astro City resident. The art!! Wow! This was the Brent Anderson we know & love. It shows when creators are producing something they really enjoy. That's true for everyone involved, from Ross on covers to Sinclair on coloring. The best superhero book from DC is from Vertigo! Odd to say that. 5/5

So should this be in the Vertigo thread? Haha

Further regarding Astro City. I just purchased and read the first two trades, Life in the Big City & Confession. They still hold up after all these years. I've read and re-read and read again these stories many times since 1995 and I'd put them up against most superhero comics in this day and age. Just plain brilliant stuff.
