That is a pretty cool piece of artwork. I don't understand the sort of cowl thingee that the man's wearing it kind of reminds me of the Animal Man costume?. I like their expressions a lot, you can read such a lot into them. Thanks , Dude, was it because of the art you showed it us, or some point I'm missing, cause I don't know who it is?.

So having just read the latest issue of Animal Man, does it seem to anyone else like Lemire is setting up the characters so no one else can play with his toys when he is done with the book?

I wouldn't say that.

Considering it's the New 52, I wouldn't really expect to see Animal Man again for a long time after the series ends.

But, it looks like Lemire is setting things up for there to be a new Animal Man, and for Buddy to be gone from the scene.

That's pretty much what I mean. It looks like he's moving his pieces off the board. I wonder if Maxine will take his place or what.

It's a lovely issue.

I think he's setting it up to show how very poor the rest of the line is.

I wonder where Will Dennis will turn up?

So, DC. Been awhile, eh? Shows how "hot" DC comics are right now

Detective Comics by Manapul & Bucceleto is not terrible. They give a perfectly servicable Batman and slightly intruiging mystery. What's that? Detective Comics involving detecting by Batman!?! Yes. Other than Manapul's art, who does far better than I thought on a "darker" title, there isn't much here to excited about. They've done nothing wrong, but there's nothing spectacular either.

Flash by Venditti & Jenson with bullshit art by Booth. Sigh. I love The Flash, why can't DC give him a great comic again? This was all messy with fallout from something...? Villains United or some crossover crap. It's all a serviceable story about Flash trying to save everyone and be everywhere, we've seen it before, and there are touches of goodness but it's hampered by BIG DC goings on.

Justice League United was solid, with Lemire shinning thru on occasion thru the dark clouds of BIG DC BULLSHIT. I love Adam Strange and it's great to see him, I'd buy a solo series by Lemire, but everyone else is just sort of there. It's like Lemire checked his requisite boxes as handed down from editorial. Stargirl, without the Knight legacy, is pointless. The new Cree character Equinox is intriguing and here's potential. Overall I'll pass and MAYBE check it out in trade.

In short, DC needs to let their people just tell good stories first, with all else coming second.

I picked up Justice League United too. I couldn't pass it up, as it's written by Lemire (who can write, if he's allowed) and features DC characters I like, so I gave it a chance. Good to know it's not New 52 horrible.

At first I thought DC had a new Kree character...then I figured out you meant Native American tribe, not an alien species.

So, now I read it. Perhaps if DC hadn't killed my interest in their product, I might be more willing to keep reading this. It,s perfectly acceptable superhero fare. But, it's really just ok, and DC needs something excellent to hook me now.

The next issue featuring a fight with Lobo killed any plans that I'd be back.

You can tell it's in Canada because they mentioned poutine! heh

Grant Morrison's Multiversity series is finally going to see the light of day, starting in August. The project has been planned since the end of Final Crisis, and has been promised since at least 2012, but has been delayed. So, thankfully this means it won't be part of the "New 52".

That will mark a new DC comic I'll be buying.

Are you sure about the New 52 thing. Seems to me they could change just a few details like they did on Batman Inc and shoehorn it right in there.

re: Multiversity

There's no indication this will have anything to do the New 52

"Prepare to meet the Vampire Justice League of Earth-43, the Justice Riders of Earth-18, Superdemon, Doc Fate, the super-sons of Superman and Batman, the rampaging Retaliators of Earth-8, the Atomic Knights of Justice, Dino-Cop, Sister Miracle, Lady Quark, the legion of Sivanas, the Nazi New Reichsmen of Earth-10 and the LATEST, greatest superhero of Earth-Prime -- YOU!"

I know the Charlton characters are involved somewhere and is Calvin Ellis, President Superman

Forever Evil #7 spoilers. It's interesting, for all of DC's talk of doing NEW and DIFFERENT! they keep coming back to old concepts, often just enough to make hardcore fan boys wet themselves with possibilities.

That being said, I rather like the idea of Lex Luthor being viewed as a hero and a member of the Justice League. I MIGHT even check out his first issue.

yeah, but it will be a New Crisis. So it's totally different....despite nearly all the same players....similar themes....but it's NEW!

Ha!

Perhaps the Crisis is the time to set the reset button....just in time to realize that it's too late.

The New Crisis will be the Crisis that eliminates every hero from the DCU except for Superman, Batman, and any Justice League titles. There will be a new line of 52 titles, divided between the three.
