Order figures

Sort of, yes.

Didn't things go south when one of their long time editors left? Was it Shelly Bond?

You might take into consideration, at least for me anyways, is that Vertigo (and some of the early frontrunners from DC) was mostly the main source for commercial adult comics. Sure there were some great indy adult stuff. But then when adult comics, or comics for mature readers, bceame the norm, Vertigo wasn't the only game in town for sophisticated story telling.

Just speculatin'.

Vertigo did fill in a void during the 1990s. There were a ton of great indie companies during the '80s that popped up to get a "mature readers" comic fix. By the end of the 1980s, most of them were dead or dying, and Marvel and DC were totally eating up the marketplace by the early-1990s. A few good indies were left like Fantasgraphics and Top Shelf, but they mainly published graphic novels, and they weren't as easy to come by as other indies like Eclipse or First. Plus, Epic Comics(owned by Marvel) also died out too. So, yeah, Vertigo was filling a void during the 1990s, as basically the only place to still read "mature readers" comics on a regular basis.

Everyone was worried about computers being Y2K compliant back then when we should have been worried about Vertigo comics.

Remember the V2K books that Vertigo released?

William Messner-Loebs did a steampunk/H.G. Wells one.

Rob Rodi remade the Four Horsemen for the next generation.

Howard Chaykin had some pulp-y series.

That Totems book that had Vertigo characters celebrating the new year, with a very badly written John Constantine.

And, Kyle Baker's amazing I Die At Midnight one-shot.

admit it guys, the didiot is ingenious and you are all now able to wipe your man-jelly off the covers of your comics without devaluing them.

Fair comment.

Shit...What a sad statement about the comic book industry. We thought people weren't reading Constantine because it sucked. No, based on the Future's End tie-in, it looks like people weren't reading Constantine because it's a comic about some guy called Constantine.

Is #18 a tie-in with Earth 2? Earth 2 obviously isn't setting the world on fire, but it might find increased sales again.

DC has announced they're releasing a special $1 issue reprinting Constantine #1 the week that the TV show launches. That's their big tie-in for the TV show.

(2) Read Constantine #18

One.

One person did this.

This thing is done, might limp through to the end of a second year (#24) but then cancelled or relaunched.

...he's there to make money, not to be respected!

A relaunched Hellblazer would be lucky to have these figures after a couple of years.

i would upvote you because you are right. but i do not like that truth at all.

DC just butchered a host of titles, in numbers that suggest they plan another big raft of relaunches - Swamp Thing has been canned but Constantine is still trucking along.

Orders ticked up ever so slightly in November.
