Demon Chas08 299 Report post Posted September 27, 2013 As if Man of Steel wan't enough, this takes the cake and possibly bang goes the Del Toro movie. Warner Bros. TV and DC Comics are on a roll this development season with a third high-profile project. Constantine, a drama based on the characters in DC Comics’ John Constantine stories, has sold to NBC with penalty. It is written/executive produced by The Mentalist executive producer Daniel Cerone and David S. Goyer, the go-to writer for Warner Bros.’ feature DC adaptations. Constantine centers on John Constantine, an enigmatic and irreverent con man-turned-reluctant supernatural detective who is thrust into the role of defending us against dark forces from beyond. http://www.bleedingc...-daniel-cerone/ Suddenly it's 2005 all over again.... JohnMcMahon 651 Report post Posted September 27, 2013 This should probably go in the Constantine sub-forum but let's stick our heads in the sand and cling to the hope that his is going to feature 'our' John! That said, I disagree with the opening of that article as it'd be a lot easier to do a TV series based on the Vertigo version which is a stand alone thing - if they're to riff off the DC one are we going to be seeing the JL:D and other assorted hangers on ? If we can't have a decent tv series then I hope they go full shite and cast a 20 year old American pretty boy in this.

That and seeing that NBC now behind the CW in the rating war (of all networks). I'd rather Del Toro's Vertigo movie or a Big Finish audio range starring our boy* happen than the TV New 52 fake version of him. *Only because they can do horror really well (i.e. their Dorian Gray audios)
slinker 893 Report post Posted September 27, 2013 Shit! I guess you can delete my post in comics/media. 3 hours too late. btw, why can't we create new posts in the Constantine forum?
JohnMcMahon 651 Report post Posted September 27, 2013 I think my plan was to keep it locked down to just a thread per issue but I'll go open it up to everyone now.

Shawn 297 Report post Posted September 27, 2013 Fuck a bunch of that. Seconded. Every time I try to fan the flame of hope, it's snuffed out by WB/DC. There was time I might have been excited for this news. Especially if it was on FX or maybe AMC or, in my most fanciful dreams, on HBO. In recent memory, name one good NBC TV show that's based around comic books/geeky stuff....go on...I'll wait.... Season one of Heroes...maybe? But on the bright side, it's not on the CW. So there's that.
A. Heathen 1,215 Report post Posted September 27, 2013 I like the Mentalist. I like Warner Bros studios. There are loads of brits sniffing around Hollywood but I hope they set it in London.
Dave 287 Report post Posted September 27, 2013 I doubt this will ever see the light of day, but I hope they set it in london too. Probably New York though. If they have to set it in the US it would be nice for it to be someplace other than NYC or LA.
JasonT 484 Report post Posted September 28, 2013 Hellblazer would have been a fine setup for a TV series... if the Brits did it a decade ago. It feels a bit too late now. The property has already been strip-mined. If they made it faithful to the original run it'd be yet another urban horror, starring a ripoff of Castiel from Supernatural.
dogpoet 554 Report post Posted September 28, 2013 I think Jason has nailed it. It isn't even like they could afford Keanu Reeves on a television budget, after all...

TheDevilYouKnow 37 Report post Posted September 29, 2013 i'm half excited and half livid. NBC has Hannibal, which has become one of my favorite shows now and is also EXTREMELY horrifying, bloody, and gory, which are definitely necessities for a hellblazer show. but i think they'll have a double standard on the foul language, sex, nudity, drinking, occasional pot smoking, etc. that john is known for . atleast in the hellblazer series. i REALLY hope that's what they're basing it on too, and not from new 52 shitty constantine. on the good side, i always thought hellblazer would work best as a TV series rather than a stand alone movie, i've even pictured it in my head. hell, i was even planning on making my own friggin' fan series for the interwebz until, well, this happened. lol. so atleast this is finally being done. dangerous habits alone would make one hell of a season. slinker 893 Report post Posted September 29, 2013 Is NBC producing it or just airing it? the production company has more to do with the quality of a show than the network airing it. who is the production co?
