This Is Where It Started (A comic called Hellblazer)

Recommended Posts

NBC has still not chosen a production company which is not good news for a show expected to air next fall season (2014). And there hasn't been any new info on it since september when it was first announced, another bad sign. Good as far as I'm concerned because I believe it will suck, so I don't want it made.

Love that last line

"I know we’re expecting another American John Constantine, but we don’t actually know for sure just yet… they might go for a Brit. Or a Blonde. Or an actor. Any of those things that the fans have been asking for."

Actually, if the show runners of Arrow (and eventually Flash) were to make a Constantine series I'd be more enthused. However, it is NBC. It is Goyer.

just because they've commissioned a pilot doesn't mean it will be picked up. in 2013, NBC ordered 28 pilots and 12 went to series or are still being developed. Cerone worked on Dexter, so that might mean 'cool' or 'suck.'

Could this news be FACTUAL PROOF that Shia and Keanu are about to reprise their most popular roles ?

http://www.aol.co.uk...-pub/518091648/

Surely this intense character actor is merely getting "in character" to play Chas?

[ Spoiler : (Also the man he headbutts looks like a drunk Grant Morrison.) ]

I'd love to hope so too, but that was old Shia. New Shia is a great artiste who wouldn't dream of besmirching his creative integrity by associating with something as trite and frivolous as a comic book

Some numbskull on Tumblr swears he has only seen the show linked to Hellblazer and not new52 constanteen. he doesn't allow replies to his assinines or i would spank him with his own silly tongue. i mean, think logically dude - they just rebooted the character into the DC uni. and that character is getting a ton of mileage in a bunch of books, but "you" think you know they are going to do a network tv show based on a character from a book that was cancelled, not the one from a book that just started and can intermingle with the super capes and Green Arrow? yeah, a hellblazer tv show - that's why they cancelled the comic, so they can use all their good hellblazer stories they didn't use in the new comic on the new tv show. some people are just silly!

Details On Four Characters Being Cast For NBC’s Constantine Pilot

While details about what they will actually be doing are somewhat scarce, we can tell you about four roles that are being cast for NBC's pilot based on the DC/Vertigo comic book character John Constantine.

First off, there's John Constantine himself. Since we haven't read the casting breakdowns or anything, we can't tell you what age they're casting, but we're surely hopeful that he's British. That's not asking for too much, is it?

Also being cast: "Chas," who we can assume is John Constantine's longtime friend Frank William "Chas" Chandler, who first appeared in Hellblazer #1. Chas is a longtime friend of Constantine's, and is a taxi driver by trade. He is also often the muscle to Constantine's brains.

"Liv" is the name of another character being cast - those down with their Hellblazer knowledge might have a better idea of who she might be, so please feel free to comment. Likewise, the fourth character being cast for the Constantine pilot right now is "Manny." Any ideas?

Hopefully we'll be getting more details soon as the pilot shoot gets closer. Constantine is in contention for a spot on the NBC 2014-2015 schedule, which should be announced in May.

NBC Officially Greenlights TV Pilot for Bisexual DC Comics Character

Based on the bisexual antihero from DC Comics, Constantine will focus on the dark side of magic and mysticism.

The Advocate

NBC has officially ordered a pilot for a television series based on DC Comics's bisexual dark sorcerer John Constantine, reports Deadline.

Constantine will follow the titular mystical detective as he is pushed to protect our world from malevolent forces. The pilot is spearheaded by executive producers Daniel Cerone and David S. Goyer. Goyer previously served as script writer for Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy and last summer's Man of Steel.

Originally a character from DC Comics' Vertigo imprint, Constantine was revealed as bisexual in an early-'90s issue of John Constantine: Hellblazer. The title would eventually run for over 20 years to much acclaim, and was adapted into a feature film starring Keanu Reeves in 2005.

This is kind of funny that some folks are into him this much due to not really "getting" his long con on ol' Stanley. I don't recall any other dudes John shagged besides Stanley, though. Does one time really classify you as bisexual? what about those puberty games some teen boys play then grow up only being with women? are they bisexual because they were horny teens? i mean, i never considered myself bisexual before, but if one time counts then i have been misrepresenting myself as hetero all these years. i guess i should have taken advantage of that classification more than once when i was young, now that i know.

The laundromat story. He lists "the odd boyfriend" amongst his failed romantic relationships. Unless that's an obscure pet name for a girl we've not met, there's really not much ambiguity there.

I don't like it being used as a key part of his identity, but I also don't really agree with 'dark' and 'sorcerer' either, so there you go. Also, a trenchcoat does not make you a detective. I tried it.

i should go back and read that one then. but yes, you got my point--who you have sex with does not define who you are. i don't introduce my gay friends to other people as "my gay friends." how little must a person think of themselves if they only define themselves by their sexuality? that seems to be self-defeating. i love my fiance and think having sex with her is wonderful, but that's not what defines me as a person. just like your trenchcoat didn't make you a detective. when i wear mine, i start talking in a horrible liverpool accent, like a mentally handicapped Paul McCartny. but i can't help myself.
