  1.

    *coughs* 60% for me

    Um, yay? ;)

Never say it. None of the ladies here are that unpleasent word, you least of all.

Much better to append something like " Highly sought after " or " Perfect from the mold, heavenly with practice " as your adjectives.

    :wub::tongue:

*grins* Or as I heard from one of the regulars at a court I worked at: "I'm not a slut, I just share myself around!"

But yeah, really don't like that term - there's too much implication that women enjoying sex as much as men is a bad thing. *shakes head*

  2. Moving right along, I give you (or they give themselves, as the case might be), the Female Sluts of Straight to Hell :

Hildegard - 49%, our cheeky Chilean with the bondage-friendly teddy we (& Obelix) have all come to love, sits comfortably astride the throne as Queen Slut of Straight to Hell.

    Claire - 44%

    Maddi - 41%

    Pooka - 38%

    Keeyah - 32%

    AngieIs - 28%

Akhira - 15%, is our very own lil' miss innocent.

Our ladies are, on average, 35% slutty.

    *coughs* 60% for me

    Um, yay? ;)

  3. That the only people who read comics are teenage boys. And that's also among said comic readers - at one point I lived in a country town and every time I went into the comic shop I got pounced on by the owner like he'd never seen a female in there before. Which he probably hadn't. But yeah, it's really aggravating to have people look at you as if they're waiting for you to ask for directions or change or something when you go to a comic place, or ask for where the girly stuff is, and then look all surprised when I ask for where Hellblazer, Powers or Alias is...

Of course, there's also the non-readers who seem to think comics are for kids since they have more pictures than words. For ages I used to put my trades away in a cupboard because I got tired of my then-boyfriend making sarcastic comments. Now they're proudly on display, along with the Buffy and Angel tapes... ;)

  4. And since this seems to be the place for happy news...

For the past two years I've been working in the traffic fines court, and hating pretty much every minute of it. Well, yesterday I finally got my marching orders - two more weeks and I'm being transferred. To the Coroner's Court, which is the place I've been wanting to work in since I started working for the courts. There's interesting work, no daily monotony of yet another person complaining about their parking fines, and there's also shift work later on, once I'm trained, which means extra money I could really use.

    So, yay for me. *grins*

  5. My vote's with Guy Pearce for hot male Aussie actor (...) Besides, he's the one and only movie Constantine in my head.

I hadn't thought of him before, but you've got a solid point here. Guy Pearce has got what it takes for the role - without a doubt he could portray the sneering insolence, the nastyness, the seedyness and the intelligence of JC. He's also got the right voice for the part.

AND he'd look okay as a blonde in a trenchcoat...

*grins* Watch Momento. It's John Constantine running around with short term memory loss, I swear...

  6. Keeyah looks EERILY like someone in my junior year Creative Writing class. Who is actually even a comic-book reader.

Keeyah looks very much life a friend I had. Prettier eyes, though-

Yes, I get about a lot.

Dirty minds the lot of you! I know what you are thinking.

You too? *grins* Apparently I have an army of clones world-wide. A friend in Montreal could have sworn she saw me on a bus one day, only there was the whole 'on the other side of the world' issue...

And there will be a photo from me, a new one even, seeing how my family gave me a digital camera for Christmas. Once the coldsore clears up. Stupid flu... *grumbles*

  7. I'd hit it! All of 'em! And I think the Australian/NZ accent is pretty sexy. I'm afraid I can't really distinguish between them, although I'm sure one of the antipodeans  will point out how different they are.

*nods* They are. It's a little hard to explain in text rather than hearing the difference, but the Australian accent is probably a bit flatter and broader. And I'd make the usual comment about getting a Kiwi to say "fish and chips" only I think I'm outnumbered. ;)

My vote's with Guy Pearce for hot male Aussie actor - Momento is one of my favourite movies, and there's this interview on a program called Enough Rope that sealed it for me - he's not only pretty, he thinks! And he's really sorry for The Time Machine. Besides, he's the one and only movie Constantine in my head.

(actually, there's a bunch of really good interviews on the Enough Rope site, including Hugh Jackman. Check it out.)

It's a toss-up between Cate Blanchett and Miranda Otto for female actors, although Rachel Griffiths is pretty amazing too.

And Sam Neill's Irish originally? Wow, you learn something new every day... *pats Google* I grew up watching him in dozens of Australian movies, and always thought he was One Of Us.

Oh, and a couple of movies to look for if you like new perspectives on your favourites:

The Sum of Us - Russell Crowe playing a fairly realistic gay Aussie male, with Jack Thompson doing an amazing job as his dad.

Proof - Hugo Weaving again. Fantastic movie about a blind man who takes photographs to prove the world exists.

And let's not forget Geoffrey Rush, if we're talking older Aussie actors. ;) He and Johnny Depp made Pirates of the Carribean the funniest movie I'd seen in ages.

  8. Down with gender apharteid, I say.

Anyway, so as to not confuse and befuddle the dim-bulb boys  , I'll re-phrase.

When was the last time you were in a SERIOUS relationship, as in met the parents, declarations of love, introduced to others as their girlfriend etc?

*grins* Suitable thread for Valentine's Day for me to jump in on... *grins*

I've been single now for four years, roughly from today. I can't remember the exact day of the break up, since there was a messy period of a year and a half where we still lived together as housemates (note to everyone - NEVER do this, no matter how pathetic the other person is when they ask you and what the circumstances are. It'll save you on therapy, seriously), so I went for the visible date in early February as close enough. We'd been together 12 years, so apparently I have two more years' recovery time if you go by that whole "half the time of the relationship is how long you take to get over it". However, I think I'm doing pretty good. :)

Not dating a hell of a lot - not a lot of options out there at the moment, although I wil say something; Canadian men? Much better than their Aussie counterparts. ;)

  9. Coming in late, on account of NYE celebrations and general seediness the next day. ;) Hope everyone had a good one, and that 2005 is your year, for whatever you want to do.

My resolution? Get out of the current job, whether by being accepted by Canadian Immigration, moving to Brisbane, and/or just getting a better one.

  10. Welcome back, Rossi. It's good to see you.

You don't know me, since I wasn't a regular here at that time, but I remember you... there was a pic of you on the old boards, that I have in my Hellblazer gallery. Cos I figured we'd see you again sometime.

Pleased to meet you, and the other new faces. :)

And you have that pic saved? *snickers* Gah. I think I'll have to dig up a more up-to-date one - project of the last year has been growing the hair out. I can do pigtails now...

  11. Nothing compares to...

... riding home along the beach on a lovely summer's day, where there's a cold beer waiting in the fridge.

... the sensation of reaching for that last hold on a tricky climb and grabbing it.

... napping in a patch of sunshine.

... being kissed by someone who means it.

... lying in bed after some really good sex and knowing you don't have anything else to do that day and so can pretty much go on as you've started.

... coming back to a MB after several month's absence and saying 'hi' to a bunch of nifty people she's missed. ;)
