From the critics and reviewers, the movie BOONDOCK SAINTS sounds like it deserves to win worst movie of the decade. There is even a documentary about how terrible the writer-director was. Nevertheless, everyone I know who's personally seen it says that it is great.
Is it worth the time or a waste of it?
Thanks
The movie is awesome. You gotta love it.

Bruce Wilis could have worked. Sam Rami most likely would have followed the comic book.

I just started reading Hellblazer again, and I'm slowly making my way through all the TPBs.
And I thought the movie was good in the same way I thought "Queen of the Damn" was good. If you have never read the books, the movie is good.
The kid that played a way young Chas did a pretty decent job. The ending was a total disappointment compared to Dangerous Habits.
Keanu did an okay job playing an asshole. He just seemed way to healthy and stable. And his Matrix outfit didn't help any.
Anyway, I give the movie 3 stars, if you don't try to tie it back to the comic. I give it 2 stars compared to Dangerous Habits.

ps The ending after the credits was cool. But why?

Nope. John was suffering from amnesia at the time, so he wasn't aware of the distinction. But to say any more would ruin the story. Do you plan to pick up the other Carey issues (175+)?
Right now I have only read 200 through 202. I need to hit the store to by back to 175, and I'm not sure what my local comic store is gonna have in stock. Is the first arc from 175 planned to be in a TPB soon?
Thanks,

If a hell day is not the same as an earth day, then the promise for one day has a pretty dramatic effect. Did John specify whether he was promising an Earth day or a hell day?

Thanks for all the info. I'm not sure if I know more now or if I am more confused.

Tweak, a word of caution. The first trade ends in a cliffhanger of sorts and the follow up IS NOT collected yet and nobody knows when. However, having recently been in your position of being new, I have greatly enjoyed discovering Hellblazer.
The rest of the trades are good and could appeal to a variety of tastes.
Personally, I am not interested in Brian Azarello run on Hellblazer, he just couldn't seem to get John dialog right, though decent stories.
I honestly enjoy Mike Carry's writing style far more, and I would like to go back and pick up all the issues in his run. I just finished reading issue #201 and #202, and Mike somehow crams so much into his comic.

Glad you liked it. Which bits do you think felt rushed?
After all the struggles that John went through with the "familars" of the aleister crowley wannabe, John had no problem just catching the guy at the end. I had hoped for some more action between John knowing who the guys was and the capture of him.

Should be vague enough not to contain spoilers. Though I expect answers might.
As suggested in another thread, I picked up issues #200 through #202. I just finished issue #200, and I have some simple questions.
The issue is just a dream sequence, right? But what was all the stuff about promising a day? That is where I am really confused.

I read Haunted last night. And it was pretty good. Jumped around a lot, which gave me a headache. Some of it seemed rushed. Overall, the story felt a lot like the current run of Punisher. The story just had the same feel.

I'm just gonna wait for the Xplay review. They are usually pretty accurate about games.

Thanks. I'm gonna grab Dangerous Habits, Fear and Loathing, and Rare Cuts since I'm a huge Neil Gaiman fan.
Is the current run worthwhile picking up? If so, is now a good time to start? Or is the run in the middle of a story arc right now?

I haven't touched Hellblazer since I was in HS, and I'm looking at picking up a TPB to get back into it. I'm really looking for a good read, not to have every issue ever printed.
Any suggestions?

Why do we read Shakespeare?

I think the real answer is because everyone before you did. I honestly do not see the value in reading his material.
