  1. Funny how this is getting a trade paperback in March along with Andy Diggle's Lady Constantine mini (sold separately) when there's so much of Hellblazer yet to be traded.  Heck you'd think Delano's "Bad Blood" mini from 5 years ago would have gotten traded at some point.

Yeah that is kind of lame. There are alot of other stories I'd much rather see TP'd. Especially the older Delano stuff because I don't have access to alot of that.

  2. Well we get further clarification on how Midnite survived the events of Damnation's Flame but apart from that, the second issue is just..well..there, really.

Yeah, they mention how the revolutionary's suicides will create a spell that willl keep him from dying. Whether that means he's invulnerable or immortal isn't specified. But if they don't explicitly explain why he survived the Empire State incident, I'll just assume that was the cop out used.

  3. The only reason I can think not to re-print some of those issues is that # 10 is a part of a larger storyline that intertwines with swamp thing. I have the whole story in single issue form, but if they made a TP of it, I'd like to see that story in tact. it's a pretty big story too, the conception of Tefe.

  4. Yeah, I'm all for making him less cliche, but it looks as if the only way they can think to do it is by making him Papa Constantine...or John Midnite, whichever sounds better.

And I also don't like the heavy influence from the film. I don't know if anyone caught this, but the cover for issue 1 shows him wearing a scorpion pendant on a necklace...the exact same one Djimon wears in the movie. I hope John doesn't go out and buy some black hair dye.

  5. I'd like to see a more expanding supporting cast of friends and allies. When Ennis took over he added Nige, Header and Ric. The last few years we've got Angie and not much else. They added a character in "Engines" and killed him off within a few panels. I loved all the magicians coming together to prevent the shadow dog, but most of them are dead or gone. I like Gemma, but she's being used an awful lot lately.

Also, do more stories on John Constantine: The Myth. Basically showing how others view him, and really only have him as a backup player. It's been done before but not so much as other stories.

And I think it would be cool to see more small adventures with John. I mean, how many times has he saved the world? While I do greatly like those stories, I also like the ones where not a whole lot is at stake or he's just kind of bumming around.

I'd also do another serial killer story, mabye just a one shot. I loved the family man issues, and would like to see some more in that vein. Mabye mix it with what was mentined before and have John be a supporting player while the killer tells the story.

  6. That's what I figured. It just seems kind of odd that he had two sisters and both died at his hand. I wish something more original could have been concieved for this story. And he is starting to look/sound more and more like Constantine every issue. I liked him better as a foil to John.

  7. You mentioned that if the movie Constantine were really between the two sides that he'd be knockin' off angels and demons. And thats exactly what I was thinking. I saw the movie with a bunch of friends who don't read HB. They all said, "I'm sure its different, but it looks like they kept the character's spirit in tact." And I couldn't figure out a way to describe to them how Conjob maintains his neutrality without explaining the entire comic to them, but I think that perfectly sums it up. It's just irritating to hear the director/producer/actors talking about how they maintained his spirit, when they so clearly did not.

  8. If you want to get into buying issues in the hope's of getting all the issues, I'd suggest just buying as many issues as you can find. A few years ago I started reading Starman just a year or two before it concluded, unfortunatly, I kept putting off buying them because I didn't want to get lost in the story. I eventually tracked down alot of issues I had missed, but it was frickin' tough. But welcome to the world of JC, you won't be dissapointed.

  9. Just finished issue #2 of PM. I'm a bit confused, I've been reading HB for some years now, and I have almost every issue with Papa in it. Now, didn't he kill his sister so he could have an "in" in Hell? Cause I think this story deviates from this a bit...

    **Spoiler Alert**

...He kills his sister in this story as an alternative to his own death at the hands pf some pissed off revolutionaries. It's just not meshing in my mind for some reason. I suppose he could have had 2 sisters and killed both, but that seems kinda lame. I like this story, but something's not sitting right.
