Even if you aren't interested please spread the word to someone who might be.

    Thank you for looking. :)

P.S. I have 2 other auctions up as well:

  2. Abe-

sorry for the delay. I looked through my issues and only have doubles of 209 and 211. I can go to my local shop and see what they have for you if you'd like. I bet they have a decent ammount of current back issues.

Let me know what you'd like to do. Other than that check ebay, it's easy to find stuff there.

  3. Hello, haven't posted in a while due to moving and stuck on dial-up which makes me not want get on the net much at all. Anyway, I've been reading all the tie in series and have pretty much gotten back into comics (all dc all the time, w/the exception of johnny boy) full time and have recouped much of the last 2.5 years of DC titles I missed out on minus the Superman titles (they are next).

Ok, I like all the tie-in series. IC #1 was too much set-up and what the hell was Mongul doing there? "hey gang, i happened to be in the neighborhood, thought i'd check the ruins of the watchtower then get beat by you all. Anyone have some ice for my head?"

From Villains United: Anyone else notice that Lex on the cover looks like a bald Ed Harris (Hollywood actor), and when were there 2 Lex Luthors? Is the one in the mechanical suit the throwback from an alternate earth? Is the one in the business suit the "good" luthor from the hardcover, JLA: Earth 2? I'm confused.

When (what comic) did Luthor get thrown out of the white house, did it happen in Supes books, a mini-series, or Batman/Superman? How essential to Superman continuity is the Batman/Superman series?

Finally, with JLA Classified ending a hilarious, "I Can't Believe It's Not the JLA" storyline only three months ago, how the hell can Max be so evil? Is that series outside of continuity, 4 months off, secret stories we haven't heard of and so they actually have taken place in continuity just a few days/months/years earlier? The Sue Dibney being pregnant joke smacked of poking fun at Identity Crisis.

Thanks for any and all answers. I don't have any fellow comic geeks to talk to in RL and I don't want to bother the people working at a comic shop too much, although if I say, "Am I missing any series so this makes sense?" It may provoke conversation since a sale may be imminent. ;)

  4. Like I said, I forgot the exact amout of time.

I hadn't heard about the "52" series. It sounds like an attempt for DC to hear the sweet sound of Capitalism. You know? That sucking sound, like money going down a drain.

heh, dc is already making a mint off of the prelude mini-series. They've had to go in for 3rd printings on the Omac Project itself.

This rewrite will be interesting. I hope it doesn't ruin anything. If it ain't broke don't fix it, you know?

so 52 huh? Man that's gonna be intense. I picked a good (for stories) and a bad (on my wallet) time to come back into collecting. When I have enough money i'll backtrack and get all the issues i missed from summer of '02 to now, but right now i'll just get my core titles again, minus the teen titans and outsiders, although I really want to see how the last titans series and YJ wrapped up.

    so let's see:

    3 super books

    JLA

    JSA

I'll skip the classifieds for now, except for some stories.

    Green Lantern

    GL Corps

    The Flash

    Hellblazer

    Aquaman

hmm that looks to be about it i think.

If i can really afford it, the core bat books, but for some reason I've always given him up first when it came down to cashflow probs.

at roughly 3 bucks a pop that's 30 bucks a month. eesh. and then of course various mini-series, one shots, hard covers, elseworlds, etc. Comic collecting is fucking expensive.

luckily, a comic shop i go to has regular sales, like tomorrow, where all back issues will be 60% off.

How is the batman/superman book going? it looks interesting. any other good DC reads anyone can recommend?

  5. apparently the result of Crisis 2 is that the continuity will be closer between series and that all series in the DCU that survive will jump a year ahead and then lok back. and Grant Morrison will be overseeing it all.

    what is crisis 2?

also, i read the identity crisis and OMFG!!! What an amazing book. The perspectives it's told from, the art, story, and panel layout coming together, holy shit was it awesome. The scene where batman was racing to robin's place screaming, "not again," dibny's funeral, all of it. god was this series amazing. It was a who dunnit? to the very last too and opened up a lot of ways to answer,"what ramifications will this have?" which is currently being answered int JLA 115-120 (i have to get these).

man this was great. I can't wait to see what Infinite Crisis brings. DC forever.

  6. how about the classic: Greatest Batman Stories Ever Told TPB? :) That was one of my first books, I also have the joker one. I wonder if they've come out with revised versions or newer editions.

sure you don't get a long story-arc but you get an awesome selection of bat tales.

  7. I have all 3 volumes of BTAS and am loving it. Will/when will they put the newer version of Batman on DVD? I don't mean the current one on the WB, but The New Adventures of Batman, or The Adventures of Batman and Robin (i'm not sure which the series was called but but the same dood voiced bats). I absolutely love the series, the way it was drawn, the way bats and his rogues gallery (arguably the best collection of super villains ever!) were portrayed.

I also am wondering if Superman and the JLA cartoons have been put together in seasonal box sets yet?

DC has by far done the best with animated series for their characters although I'm not a fan of the current Batman that just came out on the WB. It's all oogy wrong. Like revisionist history.

  8. Great, let us know what you think.

i certainly will. I tell you one thing I'm so freaking addicted again. I miss the comics I collected and I just want to know what has been going on in the time i've not collected. :( I was a DC fiend, collecting the majority of titles with batman as the exception. I ended up getting Green Lantern #1 and the secret files recently. I'm loving the infinite crisis prelude mini-series as well. Villains United seems real interesting, well they all do.

  9. I have extras of ST vol.2 including Johnny boy's first Cameo and appearances.

    Issues include:

    1-11

    13, 14 and 16

    25 (JC's 1st cameo), 29, and 31

    37 (JC's first full appearance) - 87

    91-94

    96 and 100

    Annual 2

I also have an extra issue of 39 and 40 (JC's 3rd and 4th full appearance)

All issues are bagged and boarded and range in condition to fine/good to near mint.

Make an offer and take on about 10 bucks for shipping or so. If no one bites here I'll just put it on ebay, but i wanted you guys to have first look.

I'll also have more various comics for sale including some super old x-men (#17), but i want to get an overstreet so i can grade them myself. :)

    Seth

P.S. PM, email, or just post an offer.

  10. is identity crisis any good? i've bought all the mini series (all the issues available) except the spectre one as it is at issue 5 and i don't feel like hunting down the back issues. the reception to this has been really good as DC has stated they have had to send the omac project back to the presses since they ran out of the first release. I hope that they do well with this and that whatever happens isn't too extreme of a change to the DCU.

btw, i'm not a fan of the new DC logo and

    *Spoiler*

i hope they bring ted back. :(

  11. As I've stated in a diff. thread I've been out of the game for about 4 years or so. I'm strictly a DC diet kinda guy and it seems that they are pulling another universe shaking event.

I bought the 80 page countdown to crisis one shot and it was really cool. I've always had a soft spot for Blue Beetle and Booster Gold, their quirkyness and relationship. I mean hell BB and BG got their asses wiped by Doomsday back in '93 and that won my respect. plus as non-headliners they were always written well.

anywho can anyone fill me in on what is going on, who the "sue" is they kept referring to and stuff like that?

I have to resist the urge to go and get the back issues for all the titles i used to collect as I just don't have the money atm. :(

i've been collecting since '91, had a drought when i was in undergrad school, and spent about 600 bucks recouping 13 titles worth of back issues at the chicago con in '98 that spanned roughly 3-4 years.

any info. will be appreciated as well as any of the mini-series coming out that has to do with this countown or the storyline there of (i have project Omac #1 already).

    Thanks,

    seth

ps i really love this forum as I've not encountered many other comic fans like me over the years, nor have i had many people to talk to except the fellow dorks hanging out at the store i shopped at or worked at when i was in undergrad school. :)

  12. i'd have to say that after veitch things went kinda blah. there was a bit in the early 100's of vol. 3 where the abby/st relationship got so buggy. alec would go help the green abby would freak, rinse and repeat. the covers however for ST ruled, i really liked the painting covers of the mid 100's. a cover book would be nice.

i'm still getting sick of Bradstreet's HB covers, but that's another topic. ;)

  13. when did nancy turn abby into a lesbo? she turned liz into a lez that i recall (i think nancy did that, i don't remember who was writing at the time), but not abby. abby just got a short haircut which i don't care much for.

as for vol. 3 and 4 it sounds like they were kinda poopy and not worth getting. :(

  14. As far as I'm concerned Swamp Thing had the perfect conclusion with the end of Mark Millar's run at issue #171.  The characters should have been retired allowing for the cameo in the odd DC or Vertigo book.  The rest has been in my opinion a sad attempt at milking dry the teet of Alan Moore's reputation.  I hate to say it but at this point I'll buy an issue of Swamp Thing only if it features Constantine just because I'm a completist with our John.

heh well i did like how it ended in a way, but it still left too much unresolved, IMO. sure, so abby spots him in the woods, he smiles at her and vice versa, then she just leaves? afte 10 years (comic time) she just smiles and goes? hmmm.

any other info on the two next volumes?

  15. so i finally finished my full run of ST vol. 2 which ravenously purchased after finding out Johnny boy made his debut in the series.

My question is what the heck did they do/are they doing in volumes 3 and currently 4? I mean he's practically a god of earth. The issue of Abby, Tefe's grudge for daddy exploding her, as well as Chester and Liz (not as an item jsut characters) are unanswered by the final issue.

what all did they do in the next 2 volumes to keep fans interested and stuff? did Tefe become the main ST, or something else? I'm not really a fan on how it ended. It went all macrocosmic and the shift was super abrupt and annoying. Grant Morrison was the one who did it too when he took over. Why is it I don't like when he touches my favorite books? I wasn't happy with this run on HB either, for the most part.

anyway, if anyone reads ST or has read them let me know. I'm interested, although I doubt i'll go pick up the 3rd and 4th volumes of back issues or start reading them anew.

    thanks

  16. And the final arc was an eight-parter, so Ennis must have known that it was ending close to a year before issue 60. I can't think of a book that's recieved a cancellation order nine or ten months before it finished; they usually seem to have three or four issues to wrap up at the most.

And Ennis was wrapping things up well before that, with Section 8 getting shut down in the two issues before Closing Time.

So I doubt that it was cancelled. But I may still be wrong.

the only reason i still think it was shut down due to sales is because I was working at a comic shop at the time and 1. the guy who ordered it said so, prob. from some distributor, and 2. I read it in some form or another.

regardless of the closing time story-arc, if the cancellation was given, DC could have simply said, "ennis wrap it up." Personally, I wish Ennis hadn't killed tommy and his friend off b/c I loved the character. I'll never forget issue 34 when he talks to superman then snipes a guy in a window after the big blue flies off.

regardless if it was axed or just done, i wish tommy was still around.
