  1. 1. Dunno if there's been any really good examples of literary comic the past 12 months (apart from Hellblazer and I might be slightly biased). Looking a bit further back you'll find Neil Gaiman's Sandman which to my mind is a series of first class novells that just happen to be told in a visual mode. Somewhat more recent is a miniseries released by Marvel in its Max line (more mature topics) called Alias. This series had nothing to do with the TV series and instead told the story of a relatively forgotten B-list superheroine.

    2. I'd recommend reading Watchmen (by Alan Moore) and Sin City (by Frank Miller). I'd also recommend looking through the rest of the more mature sections of the comic companies (Vertigo for DC and Max for Marvel). In my mind Alias makes for a pretty good read if you like some realism in your comics.

Hope this can be of some help,

  2. Didn't know there actually was a name for the phenomenon but it sure does fit doesn't it? I don't think that's all bad though. I've got a couple of favourite authors that are guilty of it.

  3. Hi,

Don't know if there's been a thread here about the types of characters Warren Ellis portrays as his "heroes" yet so here goes. What makes them different from each other and which one is your favourite?

    Bye for now,

  4. Hi everybody,

I've read just about all the Hellblazer issues and I'm kind of confused about Nergal. How many times has he died? I'm in the process of rereading everything and was wondering about that. Didn't the First of the three make him mortal and then proceed to kill him?

    cheers,

    Andreas
