Indeed I have read the usual spandex clad superhero comics which exist out there before and indeed there is onl6y so much of that I can digest. It has its place but I am looking for something that is a little more real in terms of its characterization. From what I could gather from the film John Constantine is not the typical hero that is portrayed in the more 'super' hero like publications, but that is what initially apealed to me about this character. Here is a real guy with real problems and finds himself in extraordinary situation where he has to make decisions with real consequences.

Not only that but when a decision is made its consequences come back to haunt him and it is interesting to see how he deals with that.

From all the descriptions that you have all given Helblazer really seems like something that I would like to get into. It deals with the occult and magic in a dark way which I find very appealing aswell. I have taken all your suggestions on board as to where to start readng and I will look into tracking down and investigating these stories/collections.

Elsewhere on this site there is a thread about how to keep Hellblazer alive and I think that those that have applied to this thread have done their bit to aid that cause by recruiting another reader!

How did other people come across Hellblazer? Did someone introduce you to it or did you find it randomly on a shelf somewhere?

Hey all!

Now first let me say that I have never ever read a single story of Hellblazer and up until recently I had never even heard of Hellblazer or John Constantine. It was the movie with Keanu Reeves of the same name as the main character that brought it to my attention and I was intriuged.

SO i went looking on the internet and I found this site which has loads of information and this fueled my curosity even more. I have never seen a copy of Hellblazer on any shelf here in Ireland and so it is no wonder that I had not heard of it before I saw the movie.

So I was wondering if I could get people's recommendations for Hellblazer. What is it that draws you to it? How would you best describe Hellblazer? What is it that keeps you coming back to find out what happens issue after issue?

In short try to persuade a newbie to joing the cult!
