  1. Yes it's true I made him a bit more like the Constantine in the comic in my novel--also in the script he comes off scruffier and more hardbitten. But Keanu is just...he's slick. Anyway we'll see...

Meanwhile - see the following - will they call John in as a consultant? (also posted in one other spot):

Oh yeah. He'll come over, say some mumbo jumbo, teach them how to catch rabbits & use the money he's earned on a nice bottle of vino & a couple hot "joy maidens".

  2. So I temporaraly forgot all I knew and went to see this thing.

My god, what a headache it was. Too much love with the CGI. It also covered up how paint by numbers the plot was. Things given importance was background in the second reel.

I want Frank Capello to give me my money back & to issue a full page apology to DC Comics, Alan Moore & the public for wasting time & money for a halfassed effort.

  3. Hey, I read in another thread that you teach judo. I wonder if we've been at some of the same events, like at MSU or Bowling Green, OH. I train with Eastern Michigan U judo under Frank Gerlitz (that is, I did, til I had the kid).

My dad, my sister & their students go to events. I help out at the school sometimes, but I haven't competed for a long time.

  4. Sweet! Hey, are you on mma.tv at all? I'm over there all the time, I'm sorry to say. (Their off-topic section can be a HUGE time-waster.)

Tell us more about the boxing gym. What, cardio-box or something?

Nah. I'm mostly on IronLife. I tried MMA.TV but I was always met with technical difficulties.

I went to ABAA to trying to learn some boxing & spar with folks, but I was too short & they wouldn't let me spar with the big guys. Thanks a lot Mr. Dore.

  5. Hello, Royal! What kinds of training opportunities are near you? Pancrase or however it's spelled would be pretty cool. I wonder what styles would be involved in the school you're thinking about joining (since pancrase, which simply means the no-holds-barred competition of ancient Greece, hasn't been a continuous extant style since that time). Sounds like with your grappling background, though, you'll have no problem finding the right teachers/club.

Most my training came from in the family. My da runs a school for SVSU & before then he used to coach high school wrestling. My grandda was a Catcher back in the day & used to cobble some sense into us by applying some moves & the JJ came from a cousin of mine who'd I workout with during wrestling practice with my da.

Opportunites here are slim though. It's either SVSU, an over cautious boxing gym or an overpriced, family friendly TKD "parlour" (it's so watered down, I wouldn't concider it a workable gym) in Frankenmuth.

Right now I'm contrasting & comparing Mu Tau & AMC styles of Pankration. Looking at my options.

  6. Kack Metal: sl. In reference to Heavy Metal music which isn't very good (ie: most of it). From the British slang term "cack" which means fecal.

For example: Limp Bizkit, Slipknot, Linkin Park.

Can also be used to refer to the dubious "techno-rock" or "industrial" music which often goes hand in hand with heavy metal on shitty soundtracks.

Errr....I believe it is placement that ruins both the movie & the Industrial track they are using.

btw, Kack Metal = Nu Metal here. Yes, we use Nu like a slap in the face.
