Which issues does that comprise? And what did you think of 'em?
I liked them a lot. Apart from anything else there's twice as much Klarion in it and the revelations in Shining Knight and Guardian worked well. You're right about the connections between the serials getting more significant as the stories progress as well.

Take your pick....Was Dave McKean better on issue #40 or "Hold Me".
Issue #40's plot suited McKean's style better.
I wouldn't have said Hold Me had a wildly inappropiate plot for Mckean's art style, either.

Just gone through the second 7 Soldiers collection.

It's because a lot of paperback editions of serious literary novels have brown covers.

Eleven : Eleven (Come)
Titus Groan (Mervyn Peake)
Cannibal Holocaust

Just read Lady Constantine, btw: unlike Mark, I liked the artwork, but was rather less impressed by the script. To a large extent it read like a story they could have done in a oneshot padded mercilessly to three or four times its natural length.

Anybody posted this one?
Bet you don't see much abouty this on Fox...
Just so we're clear that this is Bush admitting that all of the scaremongering and other horseshit his government spun to con you into invading Iraq:
BUSH: The terrorists attacked us and killed 3,000 of our citizens before we started the freedom agenda in the Middle East.QUESTION: What did Iraq have to do with it?
BUSH: What did Iraq have to do with what?
QUESTION: The attack on the World Trade Center.
BUSH: Nothing. Except it’s part of — and nobody has suggested in this administration that Saddam Hussein ordered the attack. Iraq was a — Iraq — the lesson of September 11th is take threats before they fully materialize, Ken. Nobody’s ever suggested that the attacks of September the 11th were ordered by Iraq.

I hope you both had a good day, Lou.

My only problem with it is that the ending is a bit of a political cop-out compared to the ending in the book, which should have been kept in the movie.
Possibly a spoiler below, possibly not. Definitely ugly ranting though.
They do away with the rehab clinics being run by the people who are growing substance D in order to provide them with a pool of slave labour who won't talk to the wrong people about the arrangement?Filthy cop out bastards!

Probably because their comics were (a) all interconnected and (b) shite
That may well have had something to do with it, you're right.

Then I want to see one written and illustrated by some guy they find on the street who's never even heard of Hellblazer!
If only Whatsisface Foreman had illustrated his own story instead instead of letting Steve Pugh do it for him, you'd be one down.

I wrote a book about fucking lesbian vampires: do I get a prize?
-
I dunno if that's true about the pirates thing: wasn't Chuck Dixon writing a pirates series at the company that went down the tubes the other year (forgotten its name but they did Ruse and Mystic)? Didn't do anything to pull them out of the financial hole they were in, I don't think.

Writer: Paul Dini
That's an interesting notion. He did a pretty decent job of writing Constantine in that Zatanna oneshot, didn't he?
-
I'd wager Rich's story is based entirely on that article.
The timing doesn't quite line-up with Denises' departure date which was confirmed at 13 issues at one of the recent cons.
Sounds like perfect OGN material to me, or a stand-alone mini, but I could just be digging my heels in for the sake of it!
There's no reason why it shouldn't be. Unless, of course, DC are using Rankin's run on Hellblazer to introduce the pre-Crisis Constantine Prime...
-
If Rankin is the next monthly writer then I would hope that the editor would work with Rankin to let him put his own stamp on Constantine but still keep him recognizably the same character.
Perhaps they'll retcon him? (Constantine, not Rankin.)

Thinking about the book Falling Angel.
Except of course, Harry Angel didn't specialise in weirdo occult cases, and made a dog's breakfast of the only one he handled.
Cursitor Doom, perhaps?

Well, seeing as he's currently one of the more unpopular (consistently so, in fact) presidents you've ever had, that scenario seems unlikely. Besides, not a single other country on the planet (OK, except Israel) will rate him as anything other than a massive cock-up.
You're forgetting the UK: Blair has hardly had the incompetent moron's cock out of his mouth for half an hour since 2001...

The .co.uk site still seems to be working at least.

Further investigation reveals it is a John Constantine project, with Constantine pitched as a pulp-fiction style private eye who happens to deal with supernatural clients.
Like that godawful Lovecraft film?
-
Yep, that's the sort of thing I'm thinking of. (I loved Hammet's line about the English locked room murder mystery being a joke, because that isn't how people get murdered and never has been...)

Come on, guys! You know as well as I do that if you really want a war--I mean REALLY want a war--sometimes you gotta crack some eggs, or smoke some crack with an eggwhore, or donate a cumstained dress to the Smithsonian. What I mean to say is: don't judge our reasons for going to war (they could be anything), just judge the end result and know that everything bad about the war is Bush's successor's fault because Bush will generously leave this mess to whichever Democrat gets the nomination.
Bush may well be bequeathing the mess to a lot more Presidents than whoever gets saddled with the ruin he's made of your country's finances and international standing: you were in Vietnam for quite a while as well...

But there are quite a few lesbian vampires in your book, aren't there? or...oooooh, he were bein' sort of an ironical, weren't he..?
I think he was saying there aren't enough lesbian vampires in Rankin's thrillers to suit me: one of those cheap dig things...

Wait, was he talking about Vertigo as a whole, or your book?
My book, I'd imagine.
Vertigo back on the ledge

I wonder if Vertigo would sell more comics if DC still advertised between its various imprints? Or even just the occasional advert in the Wildstorm stuff if they insist on imposing a firewall between the proper adult litearary stuff and the dirt stupid superhero comics...
