  1. Starting to get a bit fed up of the uncuttable cut scenes, though, particularly when they force you to pick dialogue before a boss fight that has no effect on anything and you have to go through a fight repeatedly before winning. Can't say it's soured me on the game yet, but it's just as bad as the PS2 Final fantasies for that, and it wouldn't have killed the designers to put an autosave right after, rather than immediately before, all of that stuff...

(And don't even get me started on that bloody ATV.)

  2. It's definitely playing well so far, though I do find myself wondering if some of the plot might be rejiggering business and characters from that third KOTOR game that never happened in a setting Bioware rather than Lucasfilm owns.

And you're probably right about the 360: I have been using that console very hard indeed for the last two or three years. It it had been one of the original models not the S I'm sure it would have red ringed on me before I'd even finished playing through GTA IV...

  3. My 360 is starting to show mannerisms (though the crashing may be at least partly down to the games I'm playing) so the time may finally have come to start looking around the pawnshops and ebay for an Xbox one or a Wii U.

    (Or both.)

  4. Going through Blofeld's I Ching translation at the moment. I don't think it's as good as Alfred Huang's translation, but it's certainly an easier read than the Wilhelm/Baynes. I'm not sure that makes it any better, even if it is a bit clearer, though you could make a case that the W/B translation is esteemed at least as much for the fact that it's a bit difficult and opaque rather than it being the most complete English translation, which makes it easier to emphasise its role as a book of a philosophy as well as the fortune telling/advice thing.

Blofeld's translation is definitely a lot better than the godawful James Legge translation, though...

  5. Be that as it may, I'll definitely be getting the collection when it finally appears. Maybe this time next year if they're as tardy with releasing that as they have been with the individual issues of the miniseries...

  6. I like to think that he's started a fight with Disney hoping that one of those Princesses will show him the error of his ways and discipline him. It conjures up an image of depressed staffers sitting around arguing about whose job it is to tell him that those young ladies are only cartoons and won't dress up in thighboots and spank him whatever he says against Disney...

  7. Now I think about this more a full season rather than a few specials might be considered a bit off because a few specials was all Tennant or Davies could be arsed with when they bowed out.

They didn't do a full series back when the audience actually wanted one, then they shouldn't be allowed one now. I'm assuming that either Davies or Tennant has actually realised this, and is worried about possible consequences.

  8. The thing is, Tennant was very popular, but he'd maybe outstayed his welcome a little by the time they got rid of him and introduced Matt Smith. A full season rather than a few specials as fanservice might be considered excessive.

  9. One thing it's worth remembering is that Chuckles' mother was really good at keeping her trap shut and minding her own business. I don't think big ears is capable of doing that, and he seems to think that he can change the contempt and disdain most of the country holds him in by issuing orders. It appears that he's even less popular than his brother, which is no mean feat when you consider that the other guy is a pedophile who's obsessed with sticking the taxpayer with bills for helicopters.

Maybe somebody should remind HRH that the last King to be executed in Britain was called Charles, and that it was Parliament who arranged that?
