  1. I posted this thread a couple of weeks back at the Hellblazer board. After reading Neil Gaiman's recent interview regarding comic movies I have decided to re-post it here were the subject is more appropriate: :icon_twosgun:

I recently had a lobotomy to removes any traces of memory of the movie known as Constantine. Hollywood appears to be learning that in order to make a comics movie successfull you must remain true to the source material as possible. Recent examples of this include the Spider-man and X-Men movies and even more recently Frank Miller's Sin City.

I believe that if Constantine had been more loyal to the comic it would had been a huge success commercially and critically, unfortunately this was not the case.

It's not too late to do Hellblazer right, just disregard the trash that was released last year and do it right! :icon_2gun:

In order to do this the next film would have to be called Hellblazer. Who cares if it sounds a little similar to Clive Barkers franchise? Most of the general public would have no idea anyway.

Come on Hollywood the time is right for a proper Hellblazer film. Team Kevin Smith with Garth Ennis on the script, hire Danny Boyle or Guy Ritchie for the direction and see if Clive Owen is available or make an offer to Christopher Eccleston, the poor guys has been unemployed since he made the mistake of quitting Doctor Who last year.

So guys, who here else would like to see Hellblazer on the big screen but done right?

  3. Hi guys, I'm new to this site and this is my first post :icon_redface:

I started reading Johns adventures when the title switched to Vertigo and kept reading until about halfway through Paul Jenkins run which was around the time I quit buying monthly comics. I recently started picking the TPB's starting with Mike Carey's first storyline and I have enjoyed what I have read so far.

I would like to raed all the stories that I've missed but my budget won't allow me to buy all the TPB's. :-?

I've noticed that DC has followed Marvels lead recently by introducing a B&W TPB line collecting some of their classic books from the past. I'm not interested in most of what they have released so far apart from House of Mystery and Jonah Hex. 8-)

I would like to see DC release a Vertigo line of Showcase books collecting such titles and Sandman Mystery Theatre, which would be ideal for this line and most of all I would love to see Hellblazer get collected in Showcase format as it would be an inexpensive way for newcomers to catch up on every storyline and also an ideal way of collecting issues that are yet to be reprinted like most of Delano's run. :icon_cry:

So what do the rest of guys think? Would you buy Johns adventures in the Showcase format?
