  1. I thought all of the Moff's casting for the lead was inspired. Not so sure about RTD's hand back on the steering wheel, but I'll reserve judgement on the 15th Doctor until I see him in action.

As for David Tennant, I know RTD was sort of hamstrung by Ncuti Gatwa's availability, but considering it's the old showrunner, Doctor and companion, it does feel like a roll back to an era that should be history, rather than a move forward.

On the other hand, a roll back is also new territory for a show that could have done it any time in the last half century but didn't.

  2. About halfway through The Weirdstone of Brisingamen now. It's my first read of it! Somehow managed to miss it all through childhood and "adulthood." There are worse places to experience it than semi-rural Norfolk in springtime.

  3. Wor lass is a fan of Paul; I bought her one of his books for Christmas. For me he'll always be Roxy from The Bill.

But this felt like a proper Hellblazer story, fairly concise, perhaps by the numbers but the numbers were good ones (7 13 666)

Garth's numbers were more like 5318008.

I didn't know he'd done another huge series of pulp-y potboilers besides the Survivalist stuff, Jason. I've never even heard of Track, but you did used to see the Survivalist stuff, even in proper bookshops.

They used to appear in discount department stores here — think BHS or Walmart. And used book stores of course. :wink2:

I kinda wish I'd kept some.

  5. What were the best comics published in 2022?

If it appeared in 2022 or it was cover-dated 2022, that's close enough. And "best" can mean "best of the small cross section I read" or "my favourite".

Here's my list of approximately 5:

    The Human Target 🏆
    Damn Them All
    Viz

    What's yours?

  6. 2020 and 21 were fairly ordinary for me (Australian understatement there), 2022 not so bad — started the year in the north of England on a fantastic holiday, my job was considerably less taxing this year, my lass moved in in July, and I revisited England in September-October.

Cheers to the surviving forum members. Here's to ya in 2023. 🍻
