It might even be Constantine's appearance in "Sandman", issue #3. I stopped buying "Hellblazer" when Constantine started hanging around with the travellers and it all got a bit much and unrealistic (it was a time when the travellers were appearing in a positive, but cliched way in many forms of culture). "Sandman", I bought a few copies and that was it.

I would have read the comic around 1988/89, possibly even 1990. It was prob a Delano issue as I stopped buying the comic after some time. I've now got "The Original Sins" compilation and it's not in there. Thanks for the help so far.

Does anyone know which issue of either "Hellblazer" the following appeared in?
It's a picture of John and all I remember is the speech bubble read something like "I am love but a different kind of love" (I'm unsure of the tense).
It meant a lot to me, and my friends at the time, as we were just discovering the joys of Acid House and this was one of the first texts that "spoke to us". At the time I ripped it out of the comic and framed it but it has been lost to posterity.
Do you know which issue this picture comes from?

Thanks to everyone who has helped. I have recently returned home and didscovered where the picture has come from. It was not John Constantine but a character called Rogan Gosh (I know...) written by Pete Milligan and drawn by Brendan McCarthy. He appeared in a short-running 2000AD comic from July 1990 called "Revolver". I hope that this clarifies the matter.
