Hello all.
This is my first post here. Glad I found a forum dedicated to John; glancing at some of the topics this seems like a very interesting place.
I stopped collecting Hellblazer around issue 114 or so, and recently started collecting again. Well, "recently" is a loose term. I've been collecting since 194 again and have from 194-current, but have yet to actually read any of them, as my life was too busy for such things. (And I like to read entire arcs at once, not monthly, so I'd typically wait for an arc to complete before reading it in its entirety).
Anyways.
As I said, my collection currently starts at issue 194, "Ward 24". This is a one-issue arc, and with John having no memory I have no idea WTF is going on. It is also about mid-way in the Carey/Manco creative effort.
Jumping into the middle things isn't my idea of fun. Can someone recommend a decent starting point to get back into the fold? I read the tail end of the Carey/Manco work and was pretty surprised at what was going on, so I'd like to know at which point to jump in. Is starting at 175 and working forward a good idea? Was there a clean break between the Carey/Manco team and the Azzarello/et al team? If I can collect single issues from 175 to the current and back issues for the 115-175 I missed, I'd be happy enough. Just need to know where to start.
Thanks for any comments.

Where to start reading (Carey/Manco team or further back?)

Hello group.
Thanks for all of the great information. I think for now, I will just back-collect the rest of the Carey run that I am missing, and start purchasing TPB's for the gaps from when i stopped (mid-Ellis) until Carey.
Re: All His Engines. I actually lucked out on this a few months ago and found a nice mint condition shirnkwrapped hardcover copy, which is what got me back into reading Hellblazer to begin with! :) I agree, it is a great novel and it was well worth the price (and well worth the other stuff I had intended to buy originally, but forsake for Mr. Constantine!).
Cheers.
