  1. Kei: Speaking of Ellis... If you're interested, a Constantine analogue makes an appearance early in Planetary, then turns into Spider Jerusalem from Transmetropolitan. Interesting commentary on the relevance of Constantine outside of the '80s and early '90s.

  2. How about Sandman Mystery Theatre?

I second that one. Very much enjoyed Wagner's take on the Golden Age Sandman during my high school years. I need to go back and read that series again.

  3. This one may seem a bit obvious, since we're on a Hellbalzer forum, but have you tried Swamp Thing? Particularly the Alan Moore and Rick Veitch runs? A few more off the top of my head:

    Fables

    Scalped

    Madame Xanadu

    Y the Last Man

    Transmetropolitan

    Planetary

    Madwoman of the Sacred Heart

    Sweet Tooth

Prophet (not the Rob Liefield one, but the Brandon Graham)

    The Unwritten

    Butcher Baker the Righteous Maker

    Hellboy

Unknown Soldier (both Ennis series and the Dysart one are good)

    Books of Magic

    The Invisibles

    The Filth

Deadpool MAX (I promise, this is worth it.)

    From Hell

Miracleman (if you can find it)

    Promethea

Journey into Mystery (both the Kid Loki run and the ongoing Lady Sif are excellent)

    Daytripper

Just about anything by Jonathan Hickman, but I particularly enjoy Manhattan Projects

    Forming (by Jesse Moynihan)

    Skullkickers

    Severed

    Walking Dead

    Saga

    Revival

    Fatale

As far as manga goes, my experience is limited, but I have enjoyed:

    MW

    Uzumaki

    The Monkey King

    Have fun!

  4. The Diggle run did seem to make a point of tying off the loose ends that Delano left.

I remember when the Carey run ended (my favorite) I thought the series was over. I did not complain when it kept going though...

Actually, that's a sore spot for some of us because Jenkins had already taken care of those loose ends. Jenkins appears to be the Hellblazer blacksheep as his run will never be traded though everyone else's has/will be.

That I never read the full Jenkins run is my secret shame... D:

  5. Read it. Not overly impressed. One point- is my eyesight really bad or did they miss Richard Corben from the rosta? Not that important I guess but they did seem to be trying to credit everyone...

I'll have to recheck it once I get back home, but that would be a real shame to not include Corben in that last scene.

I have checked it out, even zoomed in on my tablet to get a closer look. Several creators appear twice, but Corben is indeed missing.

  7. I'm just gonna activate some super lying then and deceive myself into believing that it still is canonical. ;)

    You're allowed.

I conjured a spell of selective memory, ending the entire series at 250, give or take a mini or OGN here and there..

Haha, that is a great place to close the series too. The Diggle run did seem to make a point of tying off the loose ends that Delano left.

I remember when the Carey run ended (my favorite) I thought the series was over. I did not complain when it kept going though...

  8. Nope. Delano, himself, admitted that the series was out-dated within months of its release. He expected that the grief of Diana's death would be far more far-reaching than it ended up being. It's not canonical. Still, a great story though.

We know based on the latest story-arc in Justice League Dark that John's super-power is apparently lying, and that his lying ability is based in magic. Hence, no magic, John is unable to lie.

Aww, that's too bad. I did not know about Delano saying that about his story. Like you said, it is a great story. I'm just gonna activate some super lying then and deceive myself into believing that it still is canonical. ;)

  9. It seems to be an unpopular opinion around here, but I generally enjoyed the Milligan run on Hellblazer, and was satisfied by the conclusion. I however don't think that it is the end for good old J.C. and his magickal ways.

I think Constantine gets back in the game later in life. There is the matter of the Delano Hellblazer mini Bad Blood – A Restoration Comedy in which an elderly John Constantine plants a cuckoo on the royal throne. It's canon, right?
