  1. I quite enjoyed Jonny Double: I thought it was well written and Azz had a good handle on Jonny. Which is why I can't understand how come his Hellblazer failed miserably, character-wise.

  2. I too had read on the new he had undergone heart surgery, but I assumed he'd be alright...

... I can't believe this has happened to Will Eisner.

The Spirit is the only stuff I've read from him and it's great, funny stuff.

Gaiman's farewell note was quite touching.

  3. Last Sunday I was watching Chinatown for the nth time at a friend's house, and I still marvel at how it's quite an engaging story for a slow-paced movie with little violence, sex and action, and the hero is a decent, polite PI who doesn't even carry a piece with him and gets knocked around pretty easily.

It's tough to write a good noir.

  4. How does John go to hell in the comics?

This will come as quite a shock to Tears but...he walks. No candles, no cats, no pentagrams and no water.

    He walks?

Damn it! The movie's version was so cool! I hate it when they change everything around in these comic book adapations of movies...

... oh wait, the comic came first

  5. Green Lantern is the greatest superhero in the universe.

I love Hal Jordan and I love the concept: the myth is fucking cool! Ironically, I first met him at his (according to some) worst moment and loved every bit: I followed him from the destruction of Coast City in Reign Of The Supermen, thrilled with Emerald Twilight and the GG corp massacre, embraced Kyle, found Hal again in Zero Hour as Parallax, saw Kyle destroy Oa and cried when Hal gave his life to save Earth from the Sun-Eater... and all this 5 years after it happened. Portugal sucks!

Interesting two of the three times I've cried in comics have had to do with the GG: the second was in DC One Million when Superman Prime reemerges from the sun with the ring in his hand and snuffs Solarys out.

Was never happy with Hal becoming The Spectre - I love Jim Corrigan just as much! - so I'll probably pick up the new series when he returns to the ring. It's just a pity it'll be Geoff Johns writing it :icon_rolleyes:

  6. No, sethos, spin-off was a bad choice of words: I mean Gaiman going back to The Sandman like another Endless Night graphic novel. I think he's found a little gold mine in the damned franchise and can't get out of it.

But I hope he surprises with the next project. And Lou, you'd buy anything with Captain America, admit it, you tasteless fanboy

  7. From the trailer, it's going to be great! The underwater special effects are pretty good too; I think they got the guy from Nightmare Before Christmas to work on those sequences. It should make a nice effect.

And I just love the crew's silly red caps.

  8. Maybe this will go all the way back to newcastle. Didnt John not meet Chas up until awhile after the Newcastle thing? So maybe this Demon is either Nergal, or Something that Haunted john sense he was a child.

Or... perhaps... Chas's been a villain all along, pulling the strings while hiding in the background, gaining John's trust, learning his weaknesses, waiting for the right moment to strike harder. They met after Newcastle, isn't that suspicious?

  9. Ah, it makes sense: Neverwhere's been adapted to pretty much every other medium :)

Well, I hope Gaiman's secret project is more stimulating than an unoriginal Marvel 'what if' - even if they insist 1602 is in continuity - and an adaptation of his previous novel. I want something original from the man... and no, I can do without another Sandman spin-off!

  10. The ending page was my favorite which got me to thinking, where the well is L.M. Rosa when you need him?

I hope this means something violent and deadly has finally happened to Angie! But not to Gemma... I've made my peace with her in my absence :D

  11. Hi everyone; thanks for the warm greetings!

    It's great to be back!

Yeah, James, I'm feeling a lot better now.

You're late man, but that's cool, we've been keeping your seat warm.

Yeah, I know, but I had my twelve raisins to eat and my twelve wishes to ask, and that takes at least 7 minutes...

... oh wait, you mean that e-mail I sent you like a month ago? Well, after I healed up completely and took out my bandages at last I got personal problems that still kept me feeling pretty low. Not that my problems have been magically solved just in time for New Year, but I didn't want to delay this anymore
