  1. I havent read the book yet but A SCANNER DARKLY the film wasnt half bad for what I thought...should really land my hands on the book.

Speaking of the topic at hand I just finished LESS THAN ZERO by Brett Easton Ellis...I quite enjoyed it...a perfect snapshot of nihilistic rich youth in the U.S....Starting the Hellblazer book WARLORD and RULES OF ATTRACTION this month...

Anyone care to share some thoughts on the two novels? Good? Bad? Complete rubbish?

  2. Yeah, season four felt like padding, but season five is truly excellent. The scene between Lem and Shane in the last episode should've got both of those guys nominated for Golden Globes (can you believe Shane was originally going to be just a background guy like Ronnie used to be?).

And yeah, the Producers arc is season four.

Season Four of THE SHIELD had one or two misfires but as a whole it rocked. Cant believe the guy from KANGAROO JACK scared the crap out of me...

Say what Shane an borderline extra like Ronnie :o

Ronnie's highlight has to be when his face got taken out...besides that he has the odd line "chicks like the mustache"

So whats season 5 of Curb all about?

  3. *Curb Your Enthusiasm: Seen the first three. How many have they been released so far?

Five. The fifth was supposed to be the last, but David came up with an idea for another season so the sixth goes out on HBO this year.

I'll warn you, though - after four seasons of ever-increasing excellence (though the last episode of season four is a bit poor), the fifth is a bit of a step down. Which worries me about the sixth season, since even David seemed to think it had been played out. I can only hope that this 'new idea' completely revitalised him.

Worrying news its always good to leave them wanting more. I remember watching the whole Producers arc with David Schwimmer. Is that season four? I found it so...so...The first two season were of the highest quality...

James I take you have seen THE SHIELD Season 5...

Without major spoilers...how good is it? (compared to the previous stuff)

  4. Looking forward to the Prestige. Opens end of this month where I live, South Africa.

Um really enjoyed THE DEPARTED. Maybe a tad bit hm dramatic/opera-like for its own good but overall enjoyable shit. Then recently I really digged THE FOUNTAIN / STRANGER THAN FICTION (except for the lame ending) and A SCANNER DARKLY.

Counting the days until 300 hits the theatres here my luck its probably christmas.

  5. You'll find that Boston Public starts to adhere to a severely strict formula after awhile:

Kid with problem>Teacher asks kid about problem>Kid blows up/storms off/acts self-destructive>Something about teacher asking other teachers about kid>Teacher fucking/wanting to fuck other teacher>Example of kid's tough life>Problem is either solved half-assedly or results in some terrible consequence that results in multi-part episode.

Oh and also Chi McBride has to yell at at least three people per episode.

Whoops my fuck up I meant BOSTON LEGAL. The Lawyer one from Kelley. Public put me to sleep faster than sleeping tablets.

  6. The Glass teat. Cool name. Well um try not to watch too much T.V I agree with the poster who says it numbs/dulls the brain.

    Like the following though

*THE SHIELD I own S1-S4. Currently saving up for Season 5 dvd hits March 27 in the states I hear.

Solid pacing. I got mostly all of my mates hooked on this one.

*Family Guy. Just bought S1. Funny stuff looking forward to it hitting its stride.

*BSG: Addicted what can I say. Currently watching the first half of season 2.

*Arrested Development: Man how did they cancel this. One of the best comedies ever.

    *Boston Public: Awesome show.

*Curb Your Enthusiasm: Seen the first three. How many have they been released so far?

Just finished THE JOB. Denis Leary's cop comedy. Freaking brilliant. Havent seen RESCUE ME but no ways can it beat this.

Really psyched to catch THE WIRE. Season one just started airing here on a local channel. What I have seen I love.

I've stopped even looking at those 2 page origin storys. I'm much rather have 2 more pages of plot.

Too true. I mean I understand the intentions i.e get the new kids the down low and refresh continuity for the fanboys but honestly these origins are no more than glorified pin-ups written in the oh so informative "Origins' books we got five years ago. And the choices and order? What why a Wonder Woman origin out of left field.

Otherwise I am still enjoying the series not a knock-out like I thought it would be but still having a bit of fun along the way. Looking forward to the death of Skeets / Black Adam storyline which has to launch World War III in my opinion as well as the Horsemen storyline.

  7. There's at a least two bakers dozens ghosts by now right?

Heres my question though how come Johns sister hasnt shown up as one?

Where are the ghosts when they are not shown? Somewhere else or are they omniouslly present every moment. Watching him take a shit and the like?

My favorite ghost moment was with Delano in Original Sins when they wave at Gary to join them in the street.

I'm glad that Cheryl isn't part of the ghostly gang.

I think it's because it was such a major fuck up on John's part, that he wont even allow his mind/sub concious to process the guilt as one of his usual "ghosts".

    This was bigger than that.

And cudos to Mike for his runs ending.

So you're suggesting that the ghosts may be manifestation of John's guilt?

I dont know why maybe its the books angle but I always took it as face value. The ghosts really are ghosts.

I agree Cheryl was such a shock that yeah she shouldnt be lumped with the Nun the nerd and c-listers.

I hope Diggle adresses the Cheryl loss in his run.
