  1. Well Mr Brown, I was the loud pratt in the class whilst Carey got all teachery in Streatham Library.

Jesus for lunch, wish my maths or english teacher had written Hellblazer.

That said my computer teacher clandestinely(small town south africa) introduced me to Hellblazer with Sandman#3 and Johns fortieth birthday.

Didn't think much until had some delano under the belt.

Well the Hellblazer lesson stuck, but i still type at the pace of a dead man.

My rants aside, Carey's run has been great on the narrative side but its the unexplored implications of them that niggle.

Im used to being inside Johns head (ie Delano, Jenkins and Ennis to a degree).

The amazing plot rollercoaster (and i stress amazing), has however left me somewhat distanced.

Unless ofcourse Carey spends the last three issues in his run pondering Johns

surely massive guilt over all the lives lost in the "london Riots"(his fault), three life times compressed during his sample of hell(wouldn't there be a degree of love for his "kids"and although "demon constantine may "have" Kit, but just seeing her again must ruin him)etc

I dont mean navel gazing, just let me back in.

  2. I kind of hope they don't turn up in this one.

Wondering who Angie might be phoning ...

if it's a secret, previously unknown connection it could be Ellie, and several folks have linked Angie to Ellie before. (Mainly misogynists ;-)

    otherwise? Clarice ? Ghant ? Map ?

Why would she need "two of us" ?

Some connection to Gemma for this other person ?

As an aside I was thinking about what someone said about Angie being poorly developed as a character or something - unsurprisingly I disagree. She is certainly more developed than John himself was when introduced as a significant supporting character in Swamp Thing.

Actually I recall Mike Carey himself saying that Angie was a writing failure of sorts. This was at Sreatham Library.

  3. Have recently reread critical mass and infact most of jenkins run (only second to Delano), there is absolutely no narrative breathing space for the reaqquisition of the demon blood.

Sort of mentally constucting bridges here(beats castle building), but following my prior rant about the underused "demon"constantine, I feel john would never completely free himself of Nergals blood.

John belongs in hell, and hell has a purpose.

Heaven for john should have been Careys all too short amnesia arc.

He would be free of the memory minefield he carries around with him.

If you were ever to finish Hellblazer this would be a fine way to go (if the past would let him go and vice versa)

Could you escape a past not remembered?

Nevertheless, mild irony being damned alongside all those he has damned,is the only resolution and peace john will ever have.

Johns "saving" of the Ennis character Helen was possibly one his greatest and lasting feats, to have her used for sheer attrition is well, just sad.

Its impact was comlpletely unexplored and warranted more than a christ-helen-im-sorry.

With this failure in mind,John knows he belongs in hell, subconsciously or not.

Remember him savoring the power of the blood in Delanos "Intensive Care".

What a wasted Aids meteaphor the demon blood has been.

  4. does anyone have the both copies of the jenkins hellblazer/books of magic

that they wish to exchange for some grubby pounds

let me know, just re-read jenkins run/due to "demon"john

and hes the second best after delano-fact
