  1. Ruby had connections to the Mafia and that he received a large sum of money deposited into his bank account are FACT.

This one has been denied by several parties for sure. Mind throwing some references up for these facts?

  2. On another message board, we tried guessing what figures they customized for these. Obviously, Allah's a no brainer...but what about the others?

God looks like a Star Wars figure, but in all honesty I think that they've had them specially moulded - they lack too much detail to be "proper" toys...

  3. Okay then riddle me this.

Was Oswald also responsible for the killing of police officer JD Tippit?

This is the murder he was accused of in his supposed getaway before his eventual arrest.

    I can't remember the details.

    Why is this important?

  4. I hate to fight a bloke's battles for him, but...

Just remember, millions of bands with thousands of styles/sounds attracted to millions of different listeners. What's great to you might be total shit to me.

See that? That's hypocrisy, that is.

And "indie rock" is too vague a term anyway. I'm blaming Tom for that one.

  5. I should add that the whole suit/coat/tie combo actually rather suits you, John.

'Course, if anyone found out why you were wearing it you'd look a bit sad...

  6. Delano had John meet a copper sometime during the Fear Machine arc. The policeman told him that John had never really been a suspect, but they'd released his description to the tabloids because they were baying for blood.

  7. There is a specific mention - The Phantom Stranger tells John that the blood is the key to slipping out of his damnation, and there's even a really cool Watchmen-like picture of John's complete circulatory system stood by itself.

Besides, how else did he knock off The King of the Vampires?

  8. I'm not saying there aren't credible arguments suggesting that there was a conspiracy, but it puzzles me that even Oliver Stone, a firm believer in the conspiracy theory, had to change so many facts (not just the relative positions of Kennedy and Conelly...he also misquotes the time window Oswald would have had to make his shots, for example) to make his case seem more credible in his film. Why would he do this, if there is a credible argument already?

Another cute fact: in order to recreate the gunsmoke supposedly seen drifting up from the grassy knoll, Stone had to use bellows and fake smoke. The actual rifle they had on set didn't create enough smoke for it to be visible, you see.

  9. 1.We've got a guy who wants to kill off the Arab and African race, and replace them with factories.

That's the best image ever. Millions of living factories going down the shops to buy milk, or sitting around in a pub chatting.

  10. Several DC Vertigo members and past writers involved with this movie have endorsed this film in staying true to the source material at both Comic Con convention in San Diego and Wizard World in Chicago.  Comments have been made by members of this board that these individuals were "sell outs" or have been "paid off" by WB executives.

I don't think they were paid off, but let's face it - Vertigo is owned by WB, and it probably wouldn't be a very smart career move for Berger and chums to slag off Constantine when questioned. So I don't think they've been paid off or have sold out, but I do think that they're not the most reliable sources if you're looking for an honest opinion about the film's fidelity to the source material.

Notably, one Hellblazer writer has given it a considerably less than favourable review, and he genuinely has nothing to lose since he gets plenty of work from Marvel, Avatar et al.

The fact is, both the director, and certain writers (Frank Capello) have personally read the source material and have remained true to the "spirit" of Constantine.

I'm not disputing that they've read the source material or that they think that they've captured the spirit of the comic, but they most definitely have not. The ending to the film shows that.

Now, if they make a film where Constantine fucks up Heaven to save his own skin, I might forgive them.

  11. It'd be nice if it was just mentioned in passing at least. You can't have a big single-page splash shot of a newspaper shouting about Constantine being a murderer without later explaining away that subplot.

Well you can, but that'd be crap.

  12. I've had to write this out three fucking times. Is there any way to disable backspace as the hotkey for "back"?

But I think this is a flaw in Rosa's plan, because she had use crippled Johns for each of her marriages.  The first one especially was just a shadow of the real JC.  Could the kids really get to know how he thinks from these mind-control jobs?

    Yes. It's all intentional.

ROSA: they've got your number as well as your genes. So they know you. The way you think. The way you fight. The things you love and the things you fear.

The way he fights: Zed's John was, like ours, still active as a supernatural busybody. He was the only John to actually react aggressively to the threat that his kids posed rather than standing around like a big plank whilst getting killed. He is more weary and worn than our John, but that's because he's growing more used to relaxing at home with his family. Our John has nothing outside of his magic so he focuses on it a lot more. Also, Zed's John has enjoyed sixteen/seventeen years of stable relationship, so is more accustomed to trusting others than our John, which is why he allows Gemma to help out.

The things he loves: Kit's John was obviously the most happy with his life. With his magical connections completely broken, John could finally find out what it really takes to satisfy him: a stable relationship, a child who looks up to him and - er - an allotment. His biggest fear in this life is not being able to provide for his family (and also getting his kneecaps shot off).

The things he fears: Angie's John had let himself and his world go. Fat, balding and useless, John's biggest fear is just becoming another dull, pitiful human being who lets everything literally go to hell whilst the days slide by. Angie's John had become the sort of person he made fun of when younger.

Rosa used the alternate lives to reveal different facets of his personality and expose vulnerabilities in his character. And yes, she probably is underestimating him. At least, I hope so - that's the only chance he has.

On another tack, Is the baby in Zed's womb the same baby that would later grow to be Marie?
