  1. Besides, who's to say there isn't a Bronx-like on Half-World (Rocket's home planet)? Kind of like in Doctor Who where lots of planets have a "north."

    OR

maybe Rocket watched some Honeymooner's episodes that have been drifting in space for all these decades.

  2. I completely agree! It's also a great use of different artists in the same issue. Most other times it's far too jarring. Here's it done right.

It was fun watchin Tom and Co. toggle back and forth between their real selves and their Medieval Romance versions.

Something isn't quite right, I feel, with Lizzie doing a full 180 degree turn on Tom like that. He's right, doesn't she know him better than that? Doesn't she know how this game is played? Maybe it's all part of the story they are now in, it's messing with them.

  3. Also also Guardians of the Galaxy 2 [ Spoiler : I don't think Thanos will be THE BIG BAD. Based on what we saw in this movie, with Peter's half-alien biology, his dad having sent Yondu, and so on, I think it will involve the Spartoi, his non-Earth side of the family. At some point they would have to tell the story of Peter making it back to Earth.

It seems like they're saving Thanos for Avengers 3. Build and build and build, include the Guardians, others non-Avengers, the Avengers, etc to take the biggest bad of them all. And by that time most of the actors contracts will be up. ]

  4. I really hope Yondu comes back for GOTG2 (can we call it that?). He sort of has to figure in some how, doesn't he? With the way things were laid out by the end of the movie. I love that he's a red-neck...err...blue-neck, biker gang sort of space trash. So, yeah, Space Merle or Blue Merle. I want more of this!

The scene at the end of the credits was done purely for fun. Nothing more.

The powers that be at Marvel have all but said, [ Spoiler : NO WAY will there be Howard the Duck movie. But who knows? Fan response has been far more huge than I expected. I thought the credit to Steve Gerber was classy. Also, is it true that Howard was voiced by Seth Green?? That would be amazing. Speaking of such cameos; apparently Nathan Fillion was the blue alien that Groot jacked up by his nostrils. ]

  5. Absolutely everything that Lou said. In short, I was massively entertained, on various levels! I can't think of a thing that didn't work. It's all so damned fun. Even the during-credits and post-credits scenes are meant just for fun, no big seed planted, just because Gunn thought it'd be amusing.

Also, the sound-track, Awesome Mix volume one is AMAZING!!!! Now, if they just get it on cassette :-)

  6. Don't hold your breath. There's little to nothing metioned, other than he and Team Ba-Moon want to get back to it, they've had discussions. Taking it back to Image, with the reprints, is the first step. If I had to guess.....I'd say 4th quarter 2015. Maybe.

  7. Outcast had a solid second issue; with more great atmospheric art, some characters being fleshed out and some thickening of the plot. The story is engaging and thankfully doesn't resort to cheap shock n awe blood spatter like so many horror stories these days. There's something about Kyle's backstory that connects with me, in a way I'd rather not say, but it's intersting. I want to keep buying this.....however...I've a problem with it already being put into production as a series on Cinemax or Showtime (whatever), before the 2nd issue dropped. Why does that bother me?

Still, it's a good book so far.

  8. You're guess is as good as mine. Fraction has ...,Sex Criminals, for a (near) monthly and that's it....right? At some point ODY-C is coming. As is more Casanova. No clue on when though.

But it could also be Aja. He's not the speediest artist.

  9. Low was something else, from another world. It's all so strange and alien. Yet it's all so familiar, with parents trying to do what's best for their children in a world gone mad. It's all on a future Earth, of course, that is dying and humans live in underwater cities. They hope to find another world to move to. I guess hospitable planets are very hard to find. Remender knows his sci-if really well. If you like Black Science you'll like this. Tochinnni's art is ethereal and strange, like something from a dream.

    I'll be getting more.

Prophet wrapped up well, yet poorly. The story arc wrapped fine enough, but as a series end it lacked weight. I don't want to wait for the mini-series to get the follow up. Why not just keep publishing the main book?

Fatale ended exactly the way I didn't know I wanted. Thankfully, Brubaker & Phillips told me what I wanted :-)

  10. Bros, I love Hawyguy(s), bros. But having to wait sooooooooooooo damn long for issue #19 to come out takes so much momentum off the story. Don't get me wrong, this was still some quality storytelling by Fraction and especailly Aja, with Clint and Barney picking up pieces after having their asses handed to them by the Clown. Clint's hearing loss has returned, due to the thumping, and he must cope with it, learning ask for help. There's lots of cool sign language and silent panels, but it's all engaging. The ending sets the stage nicely for the series to wrap up. BUT I think there's another Kate issue or two before that. So more damn momentum is lost. That's been one gripe of this book, the delays and scheduling. Aside fromt that, it's perfect, bro.

  11. I have a feeling Astro City won't last for too long at DC, though not for lack of quality, just your usual case of DC cranial-rectal inversion (head up their asses, duh). It might be a good idea for it return to Image, as it's far stronger and far better place to work (I suspect). But hey, if Busiek and co. are happy, who am I to complain?

  12. Astro City is under the Vertigo imprint. It is one of the best superhero books on the shelf and the best that DC is putting out.

And yes, Unwritten is always awesome. Except for the Fables nonsense. We shan't speak more of it.
