  1. Watched the first and second series with interest. Back then it was more about human interaction and psychology.

With each series it has sunk lower and lower into base and meaningless challenges for treats while the nights revolve around getting drunk, being embarassing and getting naked. Now it is more like what I think 18-30 holidays would be like.

That said will possibly end up watching some of it while bored but hopefully not.

  2. What you write can sometimes be misintepreted because you can't convey any emotion and emphasis to your comments.

Agreed - I've had arguments via text - a very bad idea.

I've had arguements via text and arguements because of texts. Sometimes just because I didn't realise there was an alternative interpretation of my text. Very annoying.

  3. Tennents Super. Cheap and strong... just like me.  :D

Are you allowed to drink Tennents Super if you don't sleep under a railway bridge?

Yes although I would suggest you try counselling first :)

Supposed to be having a dry month with Pooka. So far I've failed twice and have a Beer Festival coming up next weekend so can't see me managing to stay sober there.

  4. Tend to phone when it's important and text otherwise. I get 300 free text messages a month and that usually just about does me.

The only times I went over that was while I was having a relationship with a married woman so she couldn't phone me and we had conversations via text. It is fine but sometimes I find texts can be a little confusing. What you write can sometimes be misintepreted because you can't convey any emotion and emphasis to your comments.

  5. Apparently if you watch the orientation film at slow speeds there are hidden images in it.  Also what the hell have polar bears got to do with orientation!!!

I have heard that the writers have enough material for about seven series so don't expect any answers in the near future.

  6. No problem. I had read it recently so knew it had occured before (reprint in Essential Punisher) just couldn't remember the issue.

  7. Ineterstingly, Daredvil's lie detector senses are wrong in The White Tiger Case.

Bendis dont seem to make a big stink about it at all.

Does anyone know if this has happened before in Daredevil history?

It has happened where DD has been fooled by someone with a pacemaker. (Don't know the story from your title so maybe the same one)

The guy's heartbeat was regulated by the pacemaker and so didn't give the telltale skip he would normally recognise when someone lies. Can't remember the issue so will get back to you on that.

It's not from the same story no, but I would still like to know from which issue that one of yours was.

Do you possibly remember which writer?

Sorry it took a while for me to reply. I kept forgetting to look :)

Anyway the issues in question are #183 Child's play & #184 Good guys wear red written & drawn by Frank Miller (with a little help from Roger McKenzie on #183) featuring The Punisher.

  8. I feel like I have lost my direction and the certainties of what my life is.

I feel like I've lost my sense of place in the world, like I have no impact on others lives and could disappear without the world noticing the absence.

I've felt a little of this over the last two weeks. I put mine down to lethargy.

Since I left work it has been slowly building up and I need to stop it. Luckily I heard yesterday that I have a new job at last so that should give me a little focus back.

When you have all day to do things it's amazing how little gets done. :)

I blame it all on the weather. :)

  9. Just finished Shattered Icon by Bill Napier. It is a fairly pedestrian relic mystery in the vein of Da Vinci Code but nowhere near as entertaining.

There are better ones out there such as Angels and Demons by Dan Brown (absorbing read), The Sign of Four by Ian Caldwell and Dustin Thomason (not bad although disappointing ending) and Atlantis by David Gibbins (very enjoyable). I found Codex by Lev Grossman very disappointing.

  10. Now wine is something I can't do.

The only wine I have found to date that I liked was some cheap white called La Mancha or something. It used to kill my tastebuds with the first sip so I could carry on drinking it all night completely oblivious to any taste :) .

Never liked Champers either. Over priced, over fizzed and over blown reputation IMHO.

  11. I was once in a pub in Sheffield and they had a beer called Over and Out (I think it was that) and they only sold it in half pints...it was so strong.

Tasted like the inside of a rotting dustbin....

A few corrections/additions the pub would be The Frog & Parrot, the beer would be Roger & Out and it used to be sold in 1/3 of a pint glasses.

It was touted as the strongest beer in the world for a while (about 12% - same as wine  ) and you used to be able to obtain small certificates for drinking it (I believe I may still have them somewhere).

Pooka and myself were in there recently (during a comic shopping trip) and I am not sure if they still do it but we ended up quite drunk on their current selection (I also ended up very drunk at Christmas while in there :) )
