  1. 🤣 What a crazy coincidence! Who coulda predicted that he'd be into heavy metal and action figures!

My 7-year old is into videogames now although Roblox is more her speed than Halo or Red Dead Redemption, but we have found a few games that we can play co-op such as Rush: A Disney–Pixar Adventure

  2. Gnomon is the first book in a very long time that I did not finish.

I can see why it is highly regarded, but it just didn't resonate with me. I felt like there was a very good novel there trying to escape.

I had meant to give it another go recently and could not find it so I suspect I gave it away at some point.

  3. Bryan Talbot’s ‘Luther Arkwright’ Graphic Novels to Be Adapted as Live Action Series

The series is being produced by Jonathan Drake, CEO of Three River Studios, with Talbot attached as executive producer.

“Bryan Talbot’s work is everything science fiction should be. He stands at the very beginning of a tradition that gave us the likes of Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, Garth Ennis — his works were then, and remain now, cutting edge,” Drake said. “The best sci-fi always says something meaningful about the world or asks new questions about it. ‘The Adventures of Luther Arkwright’ is unique for its time in being aimed squarely at adult readers, with a rich and sophisticated visual style that echoes some of the great auteur film makers. It thrills, challenges readers, and makes you think.”

“Luther’s unique status as a traveller between parallel realities and his saviour-like qualities might liken him to Doctor Who – but an R-Rated version, that doesn’t shy away from sex, politics and the grim realities of violence,” Drake added.

Talbot said: “I’m very excited that Three River Studios is working on a TV adaptation of the Luther Arkwright stories. With the digital technology at their disposal and a genuine love of the original, I’m very much looking forward to the series.”

This sounds a little further on than simply being optioned so hopefully this project does actually get done.

Talbot is also currently writing a new instalment of Arkwright’s saga, “The Legend of Luther Arkwright,” due in 2022.

Also this is fantastic news. It's been over 20 years since Heart of Empire was published!

  4.

I thought I'd given up on all things mutant following the Days of Future Past movie.

But this looks fucking great! Maybe it's just the Johnny Cash, which you can't help be moved by.

  5. Funnily enough Lyra did the exact same thing about a week ago. I was running the bath and she was leaning over the edge trying to grab one of her bath toys that was floating on the ever rising level of water and then she toppled in. I reacted instantly and grabbed her before she'd gone too much in so she just got her hair wet but boy was she shocked by the experience.

  6. Oooh, look at him telling a mother who breastfed for 20months how long it goes on!

    ;-)

Point taken. MY point, that asking only whether the mother will quit working to be a fulltime mom is basically sexist, still stands.

Fair enough, but I've seen some of Amy's tweets and unless I misunderstood, I thought this was something she would like. so it was t as much a sweeping statement re all mothers, but a question about a specific person.

Anyway, sorry to keep talking about your missus behind her back, Matt, no offence is mean, I'm sure you know.

    No problem. :smile2:

Amy will be going on maternity leave and hopefully never having to go back to where she works. I would love to stay at home but as I earn four times as much as Amy it is much more sensible for our family for me to work.

Lyra's still breastfeeding most days at 19 months. Amy's going to start weaning her after the chaos of Christmas is over and we're back to a normal routine.

  8. The plan is that Amy will be a full time mum for some time, we'll see how it goes and what our finances are like once her maternity pay ends.

I think we'll start considering in a few months whether Lyra should go to nursery. If she would benefit from it I think we'll do it at age 2 and it might be good for Amy to get some free time to concentrate on the new baby.

  9. I'm sure it will just blow over. There's a good pun there I'm sure but it's too late in the day for me to think of one.

We're stuck with them for the next five years. It might cause the party to turn on Cameron but were still going to have the Tories screwing us for all were worth.

  10. Lyra peed on my printer yesterday evening.

Not on purpose, we were trying her out with a little bit of naked time and getting her accustomed to the potty. She likes to go off in a corner to do her business and she happened to choose the corner where I have the computer desk which has a printer underneath on the floor.

The joys of having a toddler.

  11. Lyra's so funny now that she's a toddler. Mostly she is very affectionate and gentle with animals and other children but there was an older girl (probably a 4 year old) this week that Lyra freaked out when she hissed at her and then backed her into a corner.
