  1. I was always disappointed they never had the TNG crew visit the Mirror Universe, on TV. I read a book a long time ago that was not a bad follow up to the TOS episode

Picard swaps places with his evil counterpart. Worf plays the Spock role. Troi was vicious as the sort of security/political officer. Crusher was the Captain's woman. And there were space dolphins that could do things with hyper-strings.

This could've been a blast as a season finale two parter

    I read that book too!

It stands out in my mind as being amongst the best of the Star Trek books I've read though I cannot remember what the hell it was titled. Curiously I remember the fact that the mirror universe had an improved version of the Starfleet uniform which didn't require Picard to readjust it every 10 minutes.

  2. :hattip:

I wonder if we'll get an apology from that doped up fuckwit Terence McKenna about his Time Wave Zero thing turning out to be utter drivel?

It's a little premature to say that as the prediction was it would occur December 21st 2012.

And like Red says he's been dead 12 years.

  3. My wife deserves most of the credit as it was her idea and she did most of the make-up. I'm not sure what the spider webs were made of (cotton probably) but they were sticky like real webs and were horrible to clean up as we had strung them up all over the interior of the log cabin we'd rented for the week.

  4. The Hydrogen Sonata. Loved it. A much more Mind based story than the last two with some lovely concepts. Some I'd have liked him to delve into in more detail but I won't even spoiler them and I won't dare risk it.

Thanks for not spoiling it Mickey. I've stuck it on my Amazon Wishlist as it'll mean that I'll get something that I might actually want for Christmas as my family and my new in laws are all pretty lousy at gift buying for me.

I'm a big fan of his work and I'm really looking forward to this one.

  5. Isn't anyone here on Letterboxd?

No, but I just took a look and it seems like my sort of thing. However when I tried to sign up it asked for a beta code, I've registered my interest for now though.

I have invites. PM me your email and I'll sort you one. Be warned, just logging films you've seen is addictive and life consuming...

I'm already addicted to logging the books I read on GoodReads so I think I'm already halfway down the path to spending more time on documenting the stuff I read and watch than I do on actually reading books and watching films.

  6. Schmidt is good, but I'm increasingly convinced that Nick is the best character on the show. Future Nick in the first episode of series two absolutely cracked me up.

Max Greenfield is quite rightly getting a lot of praise for his portrayal of Schmidt but I'm in agreement that Nick is the best character on the show. I love the whole dynamic of the four main characters, so weird and awkward. The show is the funniest thing being broadcast at the moment.

  7. Life is pretty good otherwise thanks.

Been watching good movies, playing good games on the Xbox 360, trying new recipes and having fun adventures with my wonderful wife.

Work is ok, but I feel like it is time for me to move on. Moving from Bath is probably on the cards too as the city is expensive and we'd be able to get a 2 or 3 bedroom house for pretty much the same rent as we pay for a one bed attic apartment.

I just missed out on a new job a couple of weeks ago, it came down to me and just one other candidate. But on reflection I think it is probably a good thing that I didn't get it as it would have been a dead-end job in the same way as my current one.

  8. Cabin In The Woods was bloody hilarious (pardon the pun) and made very very happy, as I'd found The Avengers pretty dull.

Cabin in the Woods is fantastic and I will be taking the DVD with me when Amy and I spend this halloween with friends in a wood cabin in the New Forest.

No, but I just took a look and it seems like my sort of thing. However when I tried to sign up it asked for a beta code, I've registered my interest for now though.

  9. Did anyone else see the 'debate' between Bill O'Reilly and John Stewart?

A lot better than the official Presidential one. I was going to write a lot more honest too but that wouldn't be strictly true. I guess they were both a lot more honest in speaking about the positions they held (even if what they actually said was bullshit) on certain issue in a way that the Presidential candidates cannot be as they need to equivocate in order to win over those all important swing voters.

I still can't believe that anyone still swallows the crap that O'Reilly and his ilk spout in regards to the healthcare question. Trotting out the tired old myth about British dentistry yet again.
