Hello Rogan, hope you got the parcel I sent. I am very, very serious about making a comic book with/about you, please contact me if you're keen.

Only counting stuff I,ve seen as an adult, Ring, Ju-on (The Grudge) and Suspiria have scared me in a lasting way.
For me The Exorcist was a huge disappointment. I find the concept of demonic possession terrifying, yet for much of that film I was rolling on the floor with laughter.

Holly, my cat of the past 14 years, will be put down this friday.

Alas, no. It was a pretty low key birthday as I have an exam tomorrow. I'm cramming Japanese verb forms like I've never crammed before.

Just posted off a birthday parcel to you Rogan. Don't know whether you'll get this thread or the parcel first so Happy Birthday! here just case.

Maybe they could tell from observation at the event?
For instance if the guillotine victim died of shock before having a chance to bleed to death then wouldn't the blood just flow from the neck as opposed to gushing aretial spurts if the heart was still beating?
Although I don't know how the heart could keep beating without the brain's input.

Nope. The front part was originally a four room cottage prefabricated from oak in England, shipped out here, and erected sometime between 1864 and 1868. The various additions were all made before 1910 in the villa style (kiwi venacular consisting of steep-roofed boxes tarted up with verandas, bay windows and ornamental wood/iron work).
The irises are fantastic this year. I migth have take some more photos.
And Charlie it might look rural but it's actually on a main road about 20 minutes walk from the CBD. Christchurch has some kind of public park or reserve, usually with massive trees, about every 4 blocks. With the right camera angle almost any piece of Chch suburbia looks rlike countryside.

My home

Yay! I reap in the credit. I've been Lawrence over 6 years now.
As for the thrill of the new, mindless passion, lust etc. living in different cities and only seeing each other every 2 months keeps the passion levels up.
In fact even when were living 5 minutes walk from each other we used to ignore each other for up to a week at time to, I think, the benefit of our relationship.
He's coming to visit in 22 days time. I'm damn excited.

Thanks spiderlegs.
It was all shot on film-mostly 100 or 400 asa.
Which image was it that seemed really pixalated? It was probably an enlargement where I didn't bother rescanning the neg at higher resolution, but it might be different film, motion blur or me using a underexposed image.

Handed in all my work for the last year of my degree on Friday. Spent the last 5 days either asleep or drunk.
(Picking my way through the this thread trying to catch up on everyone. Deepest sympathy to everyone whose life is shit at the moment.)

I always thought it was a bit retarded that they could call an annual event "Armageddon."
It is indeed.
They've switched this year so the labour weekend one is in Auckland.
So Avaunt my dear fellow, I will be in your end of the country this Thursday to Tuesday. I think I'm at Armaggedon on Satuday in the NZ comics booth hawking (and signing) comics.
All your interest is pretty damn gratifying. I'd love to send you all your own issues but in the absence of a website with payment system I know I'd end up just swapping them for other comics which I really can't afford to be doing. So for the time being I give Avaunt's mail round my official blessing.

Happy birthday to the scarlet-haired beauty.

Thank-you all.
I wish I could show you the insides. And #3 because I've just finished it and I'm fucking proud of it.
It's about Gareth Farr a.k.a. Lilith. It's not every day you get to make a photo-comic about a drumming drag queen who also happens to be one of NZ's best symphonic composers.
How does a yank purchase your creative endeavors? Website! Please...A website is top of my to do list after submission (all my photography for the year has to be handed in this Friday) and exams.
-
*psst, hey Avaunt you can get them at Cherry Bomb Comics in Auckland, or all going to plan, Buy directly off me at Armageddon in a fortnight*

I've been making time consuming, social life destroying, infuriating, lovely lovely lovely photo-comics.
Can't show you #3 as it's still at the printers.
-
50 issues gone only 102 left. And I hope like hell I can sell them all cos I need the money to print #2.

Yep, they grow mostly around the Mediterranean coast I think. There's some Greek myth that associates them mournful or suffering ghosts. Van Gogh did a couple of nice paintings of them.
