  1. These are pretty much off the top of my head as I've been listening to them over the last few days (I'm not sure if they're all since 2004 but they ain't that old)

Neighborhood 3 (Power Cut) - Arcade Fire

    Hunt - Sons and Daughters

People of the Earth - Graham Coxon

County Graves - The Legendary Shack Shakers

You realise you'll get so many suggestions you won't have a clue which ones to pick! Have fun anyway. (If you only pick one choose Legendary Shack Shakers - they're ace.)

  2. Johnny, by P Reg I mean 1996, not 1975.

Sorry, I'm not much of a petrolhead but this car has been awfully good to me.

Doh, sorry Tom! I'm not into cars much (used to be into old motorbikes but that was more than 10 years ago) but I have a real fondness for my old escort (still the best car I've ever driven), so I jumped to nostalgic conclusions!

  3. Favorite car: My P Reg Escort Ghia...

All right! Have you still got it Tom?

My favourite car that I've owned (I've had a few) was an R Reg (1976) Escort Ghia 1.6. It was light metallic blue with a black vinyl roof with fake walnut interior - heh. They usually came in either that style or Gold with a brown vinyl roof (my mate had one of those at the same time). We once entered them in a sort of Wacky Races event where you got sponsorship to raise money for a cardiac centre and then had to get from several designated points around the country to this place in Birmingham (not breaking the speed limit) and there was a section for cars over 17 years old - bonkers (but safe cough) driving, a bit like in Life on Mars ensued.

    I'm all emotional now.

    For the record:

I'm 38 so quit yer baby face whining

    No middle name

One cat too many - Balin

First console videogame I can remember was Missile Command on the Atari - In the arcades I used to play that submarine one where you looked through the periscope and had to torpedo the boats (very old).

    Favourite snack - Bacon butty

Favourite city - Rome (only been once mind)

  4. Seems pretty much as expected but for me with my PC towards the minimum end of the requirements, it looks like I'll literally be walking into a tree before it visually pops up in front of me!

  5. I'm coming down Saturday morning early - cough - is there likely to be anyone to share with/floorspace on Saturday night or do I need to book myself a room pronto?

Any advice about parking gratefully received as well, ta.

  6. What d'ya all think then?

I guess it was pretty inevitable he wouldn't wake up due to there already being a second series in the offing, and it had to tie up all the personal stuff, so it was bound to be a bit sentimental, but I did like the way they made his Dad a right shit in the end.

The Gene Jeanie was on top form... Ace bit where Sam ripped his character to shreds accusing him of being overweight, corrupt, and nicotine/alcohol fueled and he responds with You say that like it's a bad thing!

The porno titles gave me a laugh A Fistful of Donnas

Anyone know what the song was that played over the opening car chase?

Overall I loved this series but I think they've got to be brave and conclude it in the next series, it'll only work for so long.

  7. Oh yes - although I'm a bit concerned cos' Amber's helping make them this year. Yeh right, that's 1 pancake for me and 6 for the kitchen floor then!

Bizarre thing is Amber likes pancakes - but not with lemon and sugar - not with maple syrup - not with jam - but with cheese... weird lot my children.

  8. Bloody hell - now that's a cracking series I haven't thought about for many a year.

Richard O'Sullivan as Dick Turpin bonkers casting... but great.

What's brought this on? You haven't been mugged by some geezer on a black horse have you John?

  9. Crapsticks. It's 2.30pm and I've only just woken up.

I need to be up at 7 tomorrow to get my sorry hide to Cambridge for a job interview, and at this rate I'll not get to sleep till fuck-knows-what-o'clock tonight. Arsecandles.

Bastard that's just not fair - I wish kids upon you

Good luck for tomorrow, anything interesting?

  10. ... This French dude called Antoine is coming that night, and he's going to teach Rhonda and I how to use geophysical mapping equipment, which is bound to be a useful skill to add to my archaeological experience.

Yaay then you can join the "Time Team" and wear funky jumpers and entertain us folk loving Brits on Sunday evenings...

"Have we found anything after extensive digging Mick? Not yet Tony, but we're hoping things get really exciting when the geophysical mapping super team get here!"

More grey streets here too.... have fun Chris.

  11. Mark, what's the relationship between FotF and Lucifer, I heard like that they wuz twins but that one wuz like the evil one whereas the other wuz like the other evil one but different somehow?

Oh yeah and I can grow a huge Alan Mooresque beard in a week!

  12. Puts things into perspective when all you have are relatively trivial worries, good luck Gen, I hope things will get better soon and a pretty folorn hope that no gets hurt during the unrest.

That old quote of power corrupting etc. never ceases to ring true does it.

  13. 11 is quite a difficult age for Party games I would guess. One game which we played at Halloween, which was a bit of a laugh, was to get teams of 2 or 3 and get one or two of the team to wrap the other one up with toilet roll (tissue paper on a roll) to make them look like a Mummy then the best looking Mummy won - uses a lot of toilet roll though and someone has to clear it up.

Treaure hunts are always good fun but take a lot of preparation, apple bobbing can be a laugh as well if the kids don't mind getting wet.

Page with some ideas - might be aimed at younger than 11 in some cases

  14. Enjoyed, far too much, being a Dark Jedi in the first KOTOR game but the second one was a bug-riddled piece of arse - gave up after a couple of hours play due to lack of interest.

I keep waiting for the price to drop under a tenner for KOTOR 2 as I heard it wasn't so good, but they hold their bleeding price don't they.

I've just completed Jedi Knight II: Outcast though, which I got for £5 and for an old game that was ace! Especially if you turn the gore setting up on the lightsabre... head... no head

  15. Football is not rubbish but some of the fans are! Well you can't really call them fans can you...

Stoke vs Birmingham FA Cup 5th round

Typical FA Cup match between local rivals with one in a higher division but both struggling for form.

Pretty quiet first 20 minutes - Birmingham's extra class showing through from the likes of Pennant down the wing and Heskey's masterful talent of winning a free kick everytime someone breathed on him

Forssell looking lively up front and the centre backs mopping up everything that was thrown up to the Stoke forwards.

Then Stoke decided to try and play the ball on the ground using the wingers, notably Chadwick. Bangoura (our striker) started to mix it a bit and suddenly we were on top for the last 20 mins culminating in a fantastic 30 yard shot from our Belgian centre/right back Hoefkens. I was right behind the flight of the ball and was on my feet to celebrate a fantastic goal, when Taylor (the Blue's goalie) appeared from nowhere flying 5 feet off the ground to superbly push the ball away - what a shot, what a save.

2nd half - Birmingham pressed from kick off and scored with a good cross and a relatively easy hooked shot from about 2 yeards off the line by Forssell - shame that Stoke had forgot to come out of the dressing room :icon_frown:

Cue a bit more Stoke pressure ending with two chances first a great looping header from Duberry, which yet again Taylor superbly pushed against the bar and over, and then a bullet header from Bang Bang 5 yards out, no defenders, on a plate.... straight at Taylor, it really was easier to score than miss - that was probably with about 20 mins to go, and that was about it from Stoke, a bit more battling from both sides and a couple of half chances for Birmingham.

Overall a good game but Birmingham did look very short on confidence for a Premiership team, minds on the relegation battle most likely, maybe this will help, but I thought the midfield was a bit soft even with Butt back in and Heskey is on borrowed time I think. Forssell still looks a yard off the pace but he's the best chance if he can get his confidence back up, might be too late though methinks.

Now the bad side - I thought Taylor was superb, best goalkeeping display I've seen for ages, what did he get for it? An ever growing group of dickheads gathered behind him hurling abuse at everything he did - ok you get the knobheads but a good number of fans around me were laughing at their antics like the schoolyard gang that gathers round a fight and we're not just talking youngsters here. Then after all that, he still turns round and applauds us at the end of the match (an old tradition in British football) only to have coins, food, etc. thrown at him by these 30 or so twats - Sorry Maik some of us applauded you back.

I've had enough now. Season ticket for 12 years but not next year, I'll pick a few matches to go to but I can't be sat in and around these dickheads every other week anymore - I can spend the time (and money) better with my kids, ta.
