  1. Those two films, along with Pan's Labyrinth and The Departed are probably the best (at least the films I enjoyed the most) I saw last year. So far I own two of them, but I still need to get The Prestige and Pan's Labyrinth on dvd.

Pans labyrinth was indeed excellent, not too fond of Departed, though.

You should get a look at the labyrinths special edition, its marvelous!

  2. I'm not sure how Sandman could be wasted. A throwaway villain in the comic book, he turned into one of the most important characters in the Spider-mythos with the reveal in the movie, and he got a great character moment at the end of the film where they really fleshed out his motivation and made him more than a two-bit hood who got sand powers.

He was far better used in this movie than he had any right to be!

I dont know him from the comics, but in film this "Oh, hes just a poor thief who needs money for his sick daughter" angle made me nauseaus. And frankly, this is all you can say about the guy. I mean come on, not every villain should have a nice, sober side- Perhaps thats what made me so upset about the whole thing: It was the third villain in the series that had a relationship to Peter and didnt really fight against him at first, unlike Brock. Today, imho, a character isnt any clever by giving him a "motivation".

  3. Night Watch, well it looked pretty I guess, the plot was alright, it grew on me as the film progressed. Maybe a second viewing will be kinder/cruel towards it.

Inconsistant, hyperactive gibberish the first time.

I'm all too sure that I'd only be adding more of the same adjectives after a second viewing.

Read the book. Afterwards the film makes perfect sense, though the film does somewhat confuse me in adding/removing whole subplots.

  4. Why it sucked?

    -design was terrible

The sets looked cheap, unimaginative, unprofessional and artificial

    -almost absolutely no story

and it was way to mainstream, foreseeable, chliched

-while it set out to be dark, it was a fucking lough

I mean, they HERE BE SPOILERZ OMG!!! killed the queen by destroying an effin mirror!

    How lame is that?

    -cringeworthy acting

there is a delicate balance between funny and bad

    -overall no outstanding ideas

and the characters were uninspired too

(Ok, i may be exaggerating now, but i really was shocked how mediocre and below it was).

And i wasnt anticipating an Edward Scissorhands either!

To be frank, though, the first chapter was kind of funny.

    But it went downhill quick.
