  1. I'm with Christian on most of that (although I have no strong feelings one way or the other about the casting of the Four themselves, the reworked origin for Doctor Doom just sounds naff).

The Thing looks fucking awful in all the footage I've seen so far, and I can't for the life of me figure out what possessed them to make the film this way. Given two characters, one of whom is made of rocks (a surface texture which can be convincingly and easily rendered in CGI) and the other of whom wears a metal mask (an appearance which, one would imagine, would look wicked as a physical costume), what do they do? That's right - they computer-generate the metal 'skin', and create a shitty rubbery-looking costume for the rock-man. Gah.

yes, the thing looks awful. really really awful. the whole film seems weak.

  2. If someone is interested here

you can find 11 fantastic four clips. seems not really good to me, altough there are SOME good moments.

Oh, and here's a new pic from ghostrider, if someone's interested, i hope i don't show anything you know already :)

  3. altough i did except much more from sin city (i was disappointed altough i dont think its a bad film, i just didnt really enjoy it) i think of a buy of the special edition dvd, because of the 3 full storys uncut a la 45 min. i really want to see marv claiming gladys from his mums apartment :)

the batman begins dvd of course is a definite buy. and that also in some special edition. altough warner bros. releases the dvds in region 2 only as 2 dvd editions (constantine eg was also just in 2disc version available, with normal price (€19,99, like mystic river and so on)

did someone of you read the bb graphic novel for the film btw?

funny the action sequences were very short in it :)

its not bad, for one reading. but i saw better. but the constantine graphic novel is worse (changes to the film, drawing style bah!)

  4. Those who think his acting's any good.

oh please, let the people decide for themselves what they like and what not. hes not a super good actor, but i know worse. and i know many actors who also do always the same. because many of them do. im not excited about him, but there are roles fitting because of his behaviour, like the jc one. i really dont no why they hate him so much, whats this good for?

  5. Marvel would have to work very hard to make anything as bad as "Elektra"....but, I liked the DD movie. I think this movie is going to make the DD and Hulk movies look like classics!

And a pox on all The Hulk haters!

the human touches of the movie were great, the story itself and the transformation of him and his father, but when he began to jump...omg

    but i saw worse.

  6. i also think that it will be a shematic and lame film, but maybe its fun.

doctor doom at least looks cool i think but i dont know the comic (is the actor playing him a relative of you john? or is the name mcmahon just a very popular name? :) (dont want to be offending)

  7. how do you mean that? his arts are professionally drawn and beautifully colored, detailed. every frame is perfect. and what do you mean with "vulgarity"?

i think hellblazer always had some vulgarity, i dont know if it would be the same without it, altough i dont understand your post completely...

Yeah... Well, maybe I don't use the term vulgarity in the right mean (am not english...) Sorry for that. I meant that the artistic choise Manco did seemed to me the most predictable, therefore lazy and blah blah blah blah blah for him... You get the meaning I hope. No doubt his WbN was alright if not good. Also, I noticed there's stuff he's good at drawing some not. What I consider as a good artist would be one that would actually play on his weaknesses (ex : Chris Bachalo, Jorge Zaffino, Brendan McCarthy...) instead of trying to do it all.

I don't think Jimenez the same way you do at all. I lost interest in the Invisibles because of him. Firstly, even if very professionnal (too?) and clean, I hate George Perez' art. As Jimenez comes from that school, I compare him to it and find it as inconsequent as Darrick Robertson : The charchters rarely look the same from panel to panel, even on the same page (most obvious case was in his New X-Men), he never seems to make a choice between having lotsa details or being sketchy, and the colors, I just hate! I don't find a personnal artistic choice in there...

That's my take, no problem if you don't agree. If you're a fan of his, please don't take it as an insult, just my opinion. And please don't try to make me change miy opinion on that, I won't.

im not trying to change your op, i just didnt understand you, like now :)

i also cant nothing do against my impression to manco, i just find it beautiful. i dont care about its prediction, i just rate how careful it is.

    nevermind :)

  8. Would like to see some actually published art from Phil jimenez.

I absolutely hate Manco on Hellblazer : he does the obvious almost vulgar version you'd expect from him. Almost a self parody. :icon_cry:

  9. Really? No Constantine sequel? None at all?

    What proof do you have?

It was shit and no one liked it. Least of all it's "target" audience.

many people liked it, and many people dont. so its not true that no one liked it, just the half of the people. and altough the critics in america didnt gave much good reviews, elsewhere (austria, germany, hungary) they did.

and what do you mean with "target audience"? us, hellblazer-fans?

because i dont think that we were it (altough there were hellblazer lovers who liked the film, knowing that its not hellblazer).

but if there will be a sequel, is in the stars.

but your opinion, like mine, isnt the world.

  10. i wouldnt say kit because i was angry about letting john go, altough she knows how difficult it was for him, and she knew that he loves her, and she loves him. i would love to see a restart with them, tough. maybe i would say zed, altough i dont like her because she also has to do soemthing with magic and maybe she understands him better. but their story wasnt really long, so thats also not the best. and emmas also angry with him because she died, so...

ellie is just a friend, but their really grown up to each other. fuck, i dont know.

what other women where in the comic, i just know them?

  11. im also in fight with my self, because letting john age would be special and realistic to see, but i dont think i would want to see someone below 60 in a comic. but he can grow old slightly, that would maybe work. and this "he grows old and uses magic to younger himself" stuff would be funny, but not john, or? (well, i dont know, just asking)

  12. A friend wants me to see the Fantastic Four with him. He isn't a comic book fan but he knows I am. I'm not expecting a wonderful movie but hopefully it will be a fun evening out.

thats the same im feeling: a midleclass fiilm but maybe fun :)

so im also seeing it at the cinema. there not so many films this year i want to see in cinema anyway so...

  13. edit: no. 141 is just drawn by you? if thats the case, someone tell me please where and how i can get one of them!!

the easiest way is probably getting the "Telling Tales" trade by Warren Ellis and various artists. the story is in there.

thanks sethos, but im in austria and i think i cant get that here :(

sure you can: you can either order it online from amazon.co.uk or amazon.DE. (I screwed up the title though: it's actually Hellblazer - Setting Sun).

if you don't have a credit card, you can always go to a local bookstore and order it via them: the ISBN number for the US edition is 1401202454, the one for the UK version (exactly the same but with a sticker on it with a higher pice in pounds) is 1840239239.

    oh, setting sun ;)

i can get THAT even at my local comic-shop :) thanks again :)

(i just said i cant get it here because i didnt find "telling tales" anywhere on amazon or else :) but i know setting sun)
