Here's a thing: it looks like Telos have reprinted Pretty Young Things in a new edition with less godawful cover
The first I heard about this was somebody telling me about it online last night, so I've sent them a query on the assumption that they didn't receive the change of address letter I sent them back in 2013...

Going through Jack Dann's The melting man at the moment. This is a book that came out the same year as Neuromancer and gets described as sort of not quite but almost Cyberpunkish but so far just reads like an updated take on the whole '60s new wave thing. Mind you, Dann's attempts to work stuff that had changed since the mid '70s into that sort of story look a lot less strained and desperate than the novels some of the new wave guys produced during the '80sm, and it reads rather well.

Good to hear. You know what they say about an accident you can walk (or at least limp) away from...

That's awful Tigger. Are you looking at a root canal once they can get a proper look at your teeth, or are they going to have to pull them?

but why not?
Because the other Germanic languages are simple R&B twelve bars but English is free jazz: if you don't know the theory, it'll drive you up the wall.

That's definitely a plus, isn't it? Just look at the trouble Carrie Antoinette had getting that lazy idiot Johnson out of her flat...

All very true, but I think her suggested tax hike only lasting four days before it was abandoned hasn't helped her any.
(Mind you, I would much rather do her than Theresa may or Boris Johnson: is it a sign of middle age to wonder which British Prime Minister you'd rather give you a nosh?)

Halo Jones was still about a year away at that point, Tigger: I think that might be Roxanne from Skizz on the corkboard instead.

Keanu's now gotten himself into a position where he can knock some projects off his bucket list and Constantine definitely seems to be on there....for whatever reason!
Maybe he likes chewing gum?

Finally got around to reading through all (or almost all: I think I'm missing one short story collection) of Karl Edward Wagner's Kane series. About halfway through Darkness Weaves at the moment, and it still reads well: proper swords and sorcery with horrible characters, everybody scared witless of magic users, torture and public executions a go go.
-
Not actually reading it as yet, but I've got hold of the first collection of Daniel Shaeffer's Dogwitch so I can finally sit down and read the whole thing in one go.
It's only taken a decade and a half as well...

Liz fucking Truss?
The real Thatcher was bad enough, why the fuck would we want a poundshop knockoff version?
I'm off to the off license...

Tom Tomorrow nails it, yet again...

Djinn, you say?
Does the movie feature flying shoes as well?

Quora.
Specifically that I just got a like for something I said on Quora from Suzy McKee Charnas.
It may be a fake Mckee Charnas, for all I know, or even somebody trying to wind me up, but I prefer to think it's the woman who wrote Unicorn Tapestry and Walk To The End Of the World and she dug what I had to say about Lovecraft.
Fucking hell. That's my Kevin Bacon moment right there, innit?

It's been suggested that the reason Johnson is being allowed to carry on as a lame duck while his party has a vote on their new leader is because he's threatened to call a general election if they diss him again, Tigger.

Is anybody else fed up to the back teeth of all the speculation as to whether we're going to end up with a poundshop Margaret Thatcher knock off or BoJo's less popular sidekick as the next PM?
-
To be honest, it's often overlooked just how much Alan Grant did. The man was one of the giants but he just gets dismissed as a guy who did a lot of work with John Wagner during the first half of the '80s and wrote some excellent Batman stories. There's far worse ways to remember him, but it still seems completely unfair, and rather dismissive.

Nice to see that they got around to that at last.

Latest on the "unlawful seizure" (honest to God, the MGA massive are calling it that now) from Mar a Lago is that the FBI have retrieved a bunch of diplomatic passports in The Former Guy's name along with everything else they've removed. Maybe they think he's worried enough about what else he might be prosecuted over to be a flight risk? You do wonder how the stupid git thinks he's going to give his security escort the slip to sneak onto a plane to Korea, Russia or China, mind.
There's been talk of nuclear secrets as well. which I think was what the Rosenberg's got executed for treason over...

That all seems to work fine, Adrian.
Nice idea having a memorial directory as well.

I'm not sure that'd turn quite as divisive as a composite Glasgow football team comprised of Celtic and Rangers members, but there may well be a reason it was only tried out the once thirty years ago...
