  1. I went to London last summer and had the most amazing time. I would like to go back as I couldnt do everything I wanted to do. And with more money this time.

So I voted for big city. However that doesnt really count as I also love oceans, beaches and countrysides for holidays. Its just that right now, London is the destination of choice.

  2. vaguely related to the Celtic theme........has anyone read any of the Slaine graphic novels by Pat Mills and Simon Bisley, released by 2000 AD? I read them last summer in London and I thought they were absolutely incredible. Bisley is one of the best artists I ever saw - his Devlin Waugh illustrations in 'Swimming in Blood' were out of this world. I just love that painted stuff.

  3. i dont want to piss you off or anything, krix, but I saw Dogstar live when they came to play in Bombay, India a few years ago. Keanu (and the rest of the band) was not very good......

    <cringes, anticipating abuse>

I don't say this cos I hate Keanu or anything. In fact I didnt mind him back then. But really. Subpar.

I agree about the loving to play/having energy bits though.

  4. Glad you'll be stickin round chum :) as for 1000, I would say 4 days :D but that depends if we give him enough material to work with, and if we don't bog him down with avatar and photo manip requests :D

He doesnt NEED any material to work with. Look at the early pages of every single thread on this board and you'll get what i mean.

  5. isnt it interesting that all the guys are the ones replying to this thread.

What would look nice on you depends a lot on what you look like/what your tastes are, doesnt it?

However, I fully endorse CHarlie's suggestions.

  6. ash, you sure about that aversion to bathing bit? I recall you having done so to great effect for the ladies in your neighborhood.

Charlie, we could definitely share workout details. Though, I don't have much of a formalized regime. I started out with judo - learning a lot of the grappling and the throws (dai ikkyo upwards). Then I started dabbling in some boxing and the full contact stuff appealed to me some so I went on to kickboxing. Been doing that for a good two years.

I use a heavy bag routine too. starting off with one round of boxing, one round of kicking, then the kickboxing. First few rounds technique (you know the drill, avoiding telegraphing with the elbows, keeping wrist position etc, next few rounds power/stamina.I use the bag to practice combinations every other day, trying out some of my own and practicing some from training programs and teachers. I train 3-4 times a week.

I also do some moderate weight training 2-3 times a week to keep my strength up and to keep some bulk on as I'm naturally skinny.

Let me know if you want to go into detail, we can have our own private PM workout exchange or something.

  7. I've always been puzzled by the image of the Smiths as a dour, po-faced miserablist band. Sure, they can be a tad gloomy (just a leetle, perhaps), but I can't be the only person who finds a lot of their lyrics marvellously funny? Morrissey's an underrated comic writer, in my book.

I agree, Mark. I've really been listening to them a lot lately. I also think you're right about the comic writer thing - I crack up every time I hear 'Some girls are bigger than others'.

  8. My fields would be:

Films (post 1969 mainly) - I'm crazy about movies and I take every class I can find, watch every reputable (and often otherwise) movie I can get my hands on, read every book/magazine I see on the topic.

Various forms of hand to hand combat especially kickboxing.

English literature - with emphasis on British (post 1600), Indian and American Lit. Not so familiar with literature of other countries written in English (or not). So can't say much about Russian lit. I guess comics are related to this as I have co-designed (with a professor) a comics course in college for which I was also a TA.

18th-19th century European history, with emphasis on French Revolutionary history.

  9. thats great, Rogan.......things wouldnt be the same with our boy Rogan off to fight in the war......I'dve stood out on the front porch of STH everyday looking out into the horizon.......

Arent you feeling all fuzzy inside about how much we all want you alive and posting (maybe not so much that you hit 1000 posts in a week though)? hehe.

  10. I'm still really scared to download things from Bit Torrent cos of being busted by the studios for downloading a movie.........bastards. Otherwise I'd be playing all these games.

Well, at least I have Doom 3 and am starting on that.

  11. I have a deviantart account with heaps of my photos on it. I am recently specifically into Night Photography, with many a pleasing result, so check them out at:

I think Rogan's constant puns must be getting to me. I read that (twice) as saying 'I have a deviant tart account' before the correct interpretation snapped into my head.

Great pictures, Meaner. However, if you do not switch to your old avatar now, I shall do something nasty and unmentionable even on these profane boards.

WHat sort of camera do you use, btw?

  12. I'm Abhimanyu, from Calcutta in India, 22 yrs old. There are not as many slums there as people seem to think. I have never seen a cow block a road. According to Neil Gaiman in the Books of Magic, John Constantine fought in a magical war with someone not too far from my house.

I am presently studying in the US, near Philadelphia. I'm an English major and a Film Studies minor. I am addicted to exactly the same things Angie is addicted to. Plus normal non-comic book reading. And some other things I shall not mention.

I shall one day join the lucky buggers in McMahon's picture in London for one of those STH gatherings. I also want to meet Rogan to see if his avatar is actually a photograph of him.

  13. the post count???? you bastard......

I have ONE message up. The first thing I thought when I saw we had to move was "Aha now i catch up with Rogan". Then I dont log in for one day. Now you have 65 posts. Maniac.

I want to be a Street Magician again.

But yeah I see what John's talking about - the unlimited space thing and the moderator controls thing sound useful.

What does one have to do to get mod powers around here?
