  1. Well, on that same site other ( insula and self-satisfied to a fault ) Americans have addressed this by writing American lyrics to go with that famous tune.

    ;)

Boston Walers or something it is called, hunt around.

I'm totally in favor of playing folk from all over the world. When I'm better, I'll learn Spanish stuff. It's just that in America, people who play Irish songs are lame, and I want to be able to play The Black Velvet Band.

  2. So that's how it is.

I've got South Australia memorized, just got to get the chords down, since it's better to sing the melody to chords than the melody.

Anyone got suggestions for other songs I should add to my repitoire?

Right now I can play the chords to Dirty Old Town slowly, with singing, and I can play the melody to South Australia while singing, slowly. I know all the basic chords, and I can look up notes. Folk stuff is best, but even stuff like Redemption Song would work.

  3. And can people understand all kinds of the dialects?

I'm planning to travel for a year or so before college, and I'm planning to go to Spain. With 4 years of Latin, I could probably learn Spanish in a week. But would I have to learn multiple dialects?

  4. I'm middle class, I live in the suburbs, I know all about this.

I mean I don't pay the bills like you do, but money's gotten tighter in my house over the last few years. My dad works at a public university, his salary's gone down, and prices have gone up.

I'm not trying to be a snobby [over-used word], I just think that a great deal of one's free money should be put to better uses than personal pleasure.

Sorry if you took my previous message personally.

  5. And even if they don't, is it for you to decide what they do with their middle class earnings? And when was the last time you forked over $100 to Africa? So why look down on them?

    Yes, they've got moral obligations.

When I got some money for my birthday.

    See above.

  6. I don't like them because they're middle-class people who spend most of their money on cars and big tvs and crap instead of being smart about it.

I mean if everyone gave a hundred dollars to fixing up Africa, it would make a difference, They sure as hell don't.

  7. American piss beer is basically exactly what fat guys with green and gold chest paint drink in parking lots.

And what's wrong with that? Wait a minute, don't tell me you don't like football.

I like football, the green and gold actually, but I don't like the consumerist fans.

  8. I read beeradvocate dammit.

    I know about beer!

JESUS CHRIST HOW MUCH BEER DID YOU KNOW ABOUT WHEN YOU WERE SIXTEEN?

    EXACTLY, MR. PBR.

This is what my best friend tells me when I have a tantrum:

"It's okay, sweetie. We're gonna buy you a nice Happy Meal!"

    I'M EXTREMELY VEGETARIAN DAMMIT

Actually, for me at 16 it was malt liquor, not PBR.

I really like cheap fizzy American piss beer.

    me too

At least malt liquor is imbibed by black people, which gives it some level of coolness.
