  1. I was being general. That was the point.

When I said czech lager, I meant good lager, as opposed to bad lager.

I don't think Boston Lager is much like a pale ale, aside from it being hoppy.

But I can't legally buy booze, so yeah, you're probably more qualified.

  2. Yeah, that's nothing to do with the alcohol content.

I understand what Americans call beer is like our lagers, ie very, very fizzy. Drinking large quantities often does give you a bloated feeling.

Do you have darker, flatter beers? (I'm not very up on US beers, beyond the big names.) I don't really like bitter, but it's much less fizzy, although I'm told it's very filling.

    Stick to Breezers, maybe.

    American lager is quite fizzy.

It's worse than your lagers though, it's got an abrasive smell (kinda like piss) and a worse taste. Stella for example is much better.

America has microbrews, which make stuff like bitter and brown ale. But they're much more expensive than American lager (2 dollars a bottle instead of 50 cents). The cheapest good beer you can get is Sam Adams (like Czech lager but not as good), and Sierra Nevada (kind of like English ale with the hop content times 3, this is how Americans make ale).

Wolfy, if you got some Belgian tripel or imperial stout, something quite strong abv wise, drinking a bottle of that would be as much as 3 or so Buds. And it would taste good instead of bad.

  3. Guys I'm hell of playing sea shanties on the banjo.

    Well, one of them.

It's the first note song I've played, I can sing pretty well while playing, if I play downtempoish.

In South Australia I was born

    G E G G G A G G

    Heave away, haul away

    A G G A G G

In South Australia round Cape Horn

    F E G E D E C

    We're bound for South Australia

    C D E G G E D C

I had to tab it myself though. Don't quite have the chorus memorized.

  4. Christian, we were discussing multiplication.

If you can't refrain from irrelevant subjects, perhaps you'd feel more comfortable with your own subtraction-based thread.

  5. Wrote some more lyrics for banjo, going to do a basic DAG chord thing here.

Decided I'd go simpler for this, but songwriting isn't all that hard.

Hong kong flu’s brought me to my knees now

Hong kong flu’s brought me to my knees

She’s got me walking cross the jungle

    Oh what a bittersweet disease

Hong kong flu’s got me where she wants me

Hong kong flu’s got me on my knees

I can’t sleep or even drink now

I’ve got no hope for relief

Hong kong flu’s twisting up my memories

She’s got me stumblin’ down the street

She’s got me twistin’ up my fingers

She’s got me playin’ without beat

I’m losing strength every day now

I don’t know what the hell I’ll do

I’d pack my things and head for home now

But all I’ve got is Hong kong flu

  6. Oh man when I was 14 and I'd been listening to the Clash for a year and suddenly I put on Rum, Sodomy, and the Lash, my jaw dropped.

Yeah, the Pogues are amazing, I saw them live in Boston this year. Macgowan's a shambling wreck, but he wrote incredible songs for a decade or so. Even if his solo stuff is mostly bad, his best work can stand against anyone, lyrically.
